A Reunion in OZ

Betty stared out at the huge garden as the sun’s reflection made eye-catching colours in the swimming pool. She could not believe she would soon have to leave it behind and return home to Emmerdale. She had fallen in love with Oz and although she could sense she had out stayed her welcome with Kathy, she would give anything to stay for just a little bit longer. She stared across at Seth who had been asleep on the sun lounger for over an hour, she knew he had enjoyed his trip just as much as she had and although he would not admit it he too would love to stay.

“G’day Betty”

Betty jumped as she heard the voice come from behind her, she smiled as she turned around to see Ben standing in his life guard suit.

Betty: “Hello stranger, we haven’t seen you around here in a while?”<br>
Ben: “You know me darl, busy busy. Is Kathy not about?

Betty: “No she’s gone to the school to pick up Alice.”<br>
Ben: “Oh right”<br>
Betty could see the disappointment in his eyes.

Betty: “Had you two planned something because it’s not like Kathy to forget a date with you?”<br>
Ben laughs “ Aww Betty, its good to see you’re still your inquisitive self. No me and Kathy had no plans because as you know we haven’t been out together in weeks!”<br>
Betty: “Well I didn’t mean it like that…amm”<br>
Ben: “Sure you didn’t. Just tell Kathy I stopped by and that I’ll pick up Rachel on Saturday as usual”<br>
As Kathy sits in her car looking out for Alice she watched the lines of children running out of the school, joking and laughing amongst themselves. She looked back at Rachel asleep in the baby carrier and realised it would not be long before she’d be off to school. She knew only too well how fast time goes, she could not believe that it had been nearly three years since she left Emmerdale. And in the small space of time she had been blessed to have had Rachel, a child what she always wanted.
Kathy: “Did you have a good day in school Alice?”<br>
Alice: “Yes, have to write an essay tonight about our field trip, will you help me?”<br>
Kathy smiles: “Of course I will Alice”<br>
Kathy looks though a rear view mirror at the bike behind her. She slows down to allow him to over take.

Kathy: “What is keeping him”<br>
Alice: “Auntie Kathy”<br>
Kathy: “Yes pet?”<br>
Alice: “Do you think mum would leave me go and stay with Gran in England for a holiday.”<br>
Kathy: “Well I don’t know. Why do want to go to England ? Everything is okay at home, isn’t it?

Alice: “Yes everything fine it’s just that…”

Kathy: “It’s just what Alice”<br>
Kathy looks through the mirror again at the biker and wonders what he is playing at.

Alice: “Its just that I wanted to visit Dad”<br>
Just as Kathy decides to pick up speed, at this the biker starts to overtake her.

Kathy: “What is he playing at.”<br>
Alice: “Kathy did you hear what I said, I want to visit Dad in jail”<br>
Kathy: “Alice, it’s a very long way to go…what brought this about?”<br>
Alice: “I miss him”<br>
Kathy smiles at Alice, she doesn’t know what to say to her. She knows Nick would never agree to allow Alice to see him in jail.

Kathy: “I tell you what, I’ll drop Rachel off with Betty and we’ll go talk it out with Elsa, okay?

Alice smiles: “Okay”<br>
Frustrated at the biker, who is now going slowly in front of her, Kathy beeps the horn at him. The bike slows down and comes to stop in front of them. The road home to Kathy’s house is quiet and today is no exception. The man gets off the bike and starts to walk back to Kathy’s car.

Alice: “Kathy who is he?”<br>
Kathy: “It’s okay Alice”<br>
Kathy rolls down the window as the man approaches.

Kathy: “Sir I really don’t know what you’re playing at but please…”

Kathy is stopped in mid sentence as the man takes off his helmet, she freezes as she realises who is standing in front of her.

Kathy jolted up in the bed in a cold sweat. She closed her eyes as realty hit her, Biff had not returned to her life. As she rubbed her eyes she realised she was not in her own bed, this was not her bedroom. But it had once been her bedroom...a long time ago.

Still in daze from her sleep Kathy walked across to the window almost falling over a pair boots on the way. She pulled back the curtains, she was looking out on to a very familiar street, as she looked out, a woman who had been walking past waved up at her. Kathy gasped as Meg Armstrong smiled up at her.

"Meg...no...it cant be"

Kathy was standing in her old bedroom at Demdyke Row, in the house that had been destroyed the night of the plane crash. Kathy surveyed her surroundings, the 80's decor amused her at first as she struggled to figure out what was going on.

As she walked out on to the landing she could hear someone singing in the bathroom.

"Hello..."

She got no reply. She walked slowly towards the bathroom door. As she pushed the door in slightly, the familiar voice hit her. As she approached the bath she passed the fogged up bathroom mirror, not noticing it seemed her reflection.

Kathy caught hold of the shower curtain, as the figure inside turned around.

Kathy: "...hello.."

She flung back the shower curtain.

"Good Morning", the man staring back at her smiled.

Kathy froze.

"...Jackie!"
