hi there,
Here's another attempt at a story, came up with this storyline going on the upcoming storyline of Jimmy and Sadie spliting up over her not wanting kids.
any comments, etc greatly appreciated.

----------------------
The car pulled up outside the shop. Rachel looked at the scribbled directions on a notepad and figured to herself that probably just easier to ask for directions, grabbing her bag she got out of the car. As she fixed her top she looked around Emmerdale Village. Thinking to herself <bit quiet, how was Sadie living in this morgue> Walking towards the shop, the door opened and out came an elderly lady.
'Excuse me, can you tell me where i would find Holdgate Farm'
"if you drive out of the village, take the road for Leeds and about 1/2 a mile out of the village, you'll see large gates on your right, you can't miss it" the elderly lady replied.
'Thanks'. Rachel proceeded to enter the shop anyway. <need something to drink, might as well get a look at some more locals>
When Rachel entered the shop, she recognised her brother in law at the counter.
'Hey there' Rachel said as she touched Carl's shoulder.
"look at what the cat dragged in," said Carl hugging her, "Sadie didn't say anything about you visting"
'She doesn't know yet, had some time off so thought i would come see my sister'
"Are you heading that way now? if you want i'll come with you want to see the look on her face when she sees you"
'very funny, you never know she might be happy to see me'
They both laughed. Rachel paid for her bottle of wa ter and followed Carl out of the shop.
"want me to show you around the village?"
'Shouldn't take too long'
"That's the Woolie, Pear Tree Cottage is where Dad's new office is, Matthew owns Victoria Cottage, i'm here. You have the church, B & B, and small coffee shop at back of the shop"
'quite a little hotpot of activity'
"just because you've come from the big smoke, don't be putting it down, i give you a couple of weeks and you will be quite at home"
'can't see Sadie wanting me around for that long, how is she?'
"you'll need to ask her that yourself, I keep clear of her and Jimmy these days"
They both got into Rachel's car. Carl directed her out of the village and out the Leeds road.
"Sadie's actually living in Home Farm, but might as well try Dad's place first"
'Home Farm, did they buy a place already? last time i spoke to her, she wasn't in any hurry to buy'
"She's house-sitting, I don't think she's that worried about buying either and with the way things are now" Carl cursed himself for opening his big mouth, it wasn't his place to fill Rachel in on her sister's carry-on.
'what do you mean?'
"on don't mind me, Sadie will fill you in"
'Carl King, don't you dare fob me off, i'll only get what Sadie wants me to get'
"Jimmy and her have split up and he's back at home"
'what the hell is she playing at now?'
Carl didn't answer, this was the last thing he wanted to be involved in, it was bad enough at Holdgate Farm. Carl pointed to the large gates and Rachel indicated and pulled into the driveway.
'this is lovely'. Rachel looked at the quaint 2 storey house at the end of the driveway. Rachel parked the car to the left of the house beside the blue sports car.
"she's here, that's Sadie's car" Carl said as he closed the passenger door.
'ah well, too late now, i've been seen' Rachel replied as she watched Tom and Jimmy coming down the front steps.
"well, hello there" said Tom as he hugged Rachel, "you are a sight for sore eyes"
"Rachel, great to see you, Sadie didn't say you were visting" said Jimmy as he hugged her.
"That's because Sadie didn't know" said Sadie as she came down the front steps, "what the hell are you doing here?"
"that's not a nice way to greet your sister" said Tom as he led Rachel to the house.
"half-sister" Sadie barked back.
'Hey, about you pour me a drink, Tom and i'll have a quick word with my sister' said Rachel as she turned back towards Sadie. Tom agreed and along with Jimmy and Carl went back into the house.
"what do you want?" asked Sadie.
'nice to see you too, sis, had holidays to take so thought i would come up and see how my sister's getting on, or would you prefer if i call you my half-sister, thought we had got past all that'
"your timing is crap as usual" replied Sadie making her way towards the patio table.
Rachel sat down beside her and waited a few minutes.
'well, you going to tell me?'
"what's there to tell, Jimmy and I are gettting a divorce and i'm here to make sure i don't get screwed out of what i am entitled too!"
'you are so like Dad, worrying about money, it's not like you would be living on the street, what's happened i thought you were happy'
"happy, what's that?"
'Sadie'
"Jimmy wants us to try for a family"
'and'
"you know how i feel about children"
'yes, i know but have you explained it to Jimmy'
"i told him i don't want kids"
'that's not what i asked, did you tell him why?"
Sadie looked away and didn't answer.
'and is divorce what you want?'
"i don't know"
'Sadie, do you love Jimmy? i'm serious, i know you like what he gives you, the freedom the money, he's an easy touch but he's not the worst, he's good to you and to be honest Sadie you don't deserve him but it is you he loves'
"it's too late"
Rachel looked towards the house where Tom was waving a glass through the window.
'that's not the Sadie Winchester i know and for some strange reason love, come on'
Rachel got up and walked towards the house. turning around she watched Sadie walk towards her car.
"i need some time, you going to stay with me at Home Farm?" asked Sadie as she opened her car door.
'that would be great, we can talk over dinner later if you want'
Sadie nodded and got into her car.
Rachel went into the house and followed the sound of laughter.
"There you are, now come in here and tell me what brings you up north?" Tom handed Rachel her glass and pulled out the seat next to him for her.
"where's Sadie" asked Jimmy.
'she told me what's happening, Jimmy, i'm sorry, it will work out though, i know it will, just give her time'
Jimmy just nodded and made an excuse about some work that had to finished at the yard. Carl went with him.
End of Part 1

Very good ... keep going & I'm curious to know the reason why Sadie dosen't want children. Is it because she simply is unable to have children?

Sorry about the delay.
Part 2
Tom and Rachel are in the kitchen of Holdgate Farm.
"So Tom King, i hear you got yourself a younger woman? I thought i was the only younger woman for you?"
"Thought you wanted nothing to do with the King men, if i remember correctly that's what you told one of my sons!"
"somebody been telling tales?"
"no, just an overheard conversation"
"just crossed wires and family weddings you know how it is!"
"So how's the job going?"
"have transferred to Leeds, to be honest its pretty crap so i thought i would gave it a chance here before i pack it in"
"any problems in particular?"
They both turned as they heard the front door opening.
"Tom, are you here?" asked Charity as she wheeled Noah's buggy into the kitchen.
"hi, Charity, i'd like you to meet Rachel, Sadie's sister"
Rachel stood up and shook hands with Charity.
"nice to meet you and who's this little guy?" Rachel smiled in at Noah and tickled his hand. Noah giggled back.
"Noah, my son" replied Chairty as she sat down beside Tom.
"Can I?" asked Rachel pointing to Noah.
"knock yourelf out" Charity replied.
Rachel removed Noah from his buggy and sat back down.
"So you just passing through?"
"no, going to stay for a couple of weeks, need to find a place to live in Leeds, will spend some time with Sadie, needs some family right now?"
Charity looked at Rachel and then Tom.
"not a fan then? Don't worry very few people get on with Sadie but believe it or not, there is a person in there, deep down, but it's there" replied Rachel as she played with Noah.
Rachel looked at the clock on the wall. " I think maybe i should get going, knowing Sadie I will probably have to cook something for both of us".
Tom and Charity walked Rachel to her car and said their goodbyes.
" not very alike are they?" said Charity as they watched Rachel drive off.
"Charity!"
"what i'm just saying"
"We all know you and Sadie are not the best of pals, but she is part of this family whether you like it or not and as for Rachel, i consider her part of this family too, so for my sake try to get along with her"
Charity nodded, linked arms with Tom and they walked back towards the house.
------------------------------
A couple of hours later at Home Farm.
Rachel wrapped the towel around her and let the water out of the bath. <i needed that> It had been a long day and the last thing she had expected was to find Jimmy and Sadie living in separate houses talking about divorce. She of all people knew what Sadie was like, she could be a b**ch at times, well she was most of the time but Rachel had grown up with her and seen the other side of her. She could remember the morning of Sadie and Jimmy's wedding, she had almost called it off, Sadie didn't want her marriage to be like her parents, Sadie would never forgive her mother even after she killed herself she still hadn't forgiven her.
Rachel dried herself off and pulled on a tracksuit. Rachel made her way to the kitchen to find Sadie sitting with a half empty bottle of whiskey.
-------------------
That's all want to make some changes before i give you any more!!
any comments etc!

Part 3
Early Tuesday morning at Home Farm. Rachel and Sadie are having breakfast.
“what’s the plan for today?”
“going to see Jimmy first, what about you?”
“want to return my hire car and see about sorting out some transport”
They finished breakfast and said their goodbyes.
Sadie opened the door of Pear Tree Cottage to find Matthew in the office.
“Hi, Matthew, is Jimmy about?”
“Sorry, Sadie, he’s away for the day with Dad, anything I can help you with?”
“I was hoping to talk to him, it’s personal”
Sadie sat down on a chair. Matthew came over to her and hunched down beside her.
“Are you okay?”
“no, Matthew, I’m not, what am I going to do, I love Jimmy but he just doesn’t get me and everyone is telling me to try and save my marriage”
“do you want to save it?”
Matthew wiped a tear from Sadie’s face. Sadie raised her hand and held Matthew’s hand to her face.
“it was always you I wanted” said Sadie as she kissed Matthew.
Matthew kissed her back, standing up he pulled Sadie towards him kissing her harder and frantically.
Suddenly, Matthew pulled back.
“we can’t, what about Jimmy”
Sadie went to the front door turned the lock and switched the lights of. Turning back towards Matthew she slowly unbuttoned her blouse and let it fall to the floor all the while keeping eye contact with him.
“now where were we”
Matthew turned the water on full blast and stood under the shower.
<what the hell have I done, jesus, if Jimmy finds out it will kill him, Sadie had tried it on before but he had turned her down, she was his sister-in-law and he wasn’t even attracted to her, what had made him give in this time>
After Matthew showered he got dressed and wondered how the hell was he going to face Jimmy now.
Sadie heard a car pull up outside. She went to the window to find Jimmy getting out of his car.
"hi, there"
"hi, Sadie, Carl told me you were looking for me earlier"
"i was, i think we should talk, i have something to tell you?"
Jimmy followed Sadie into the front room, She sat down and patted the seat beside her.
"Jimmy, i'm sorry about the last few months, i haven't been myself and i should have talked to you ages ago before things got so out of hand, i do love you"
"I know but is it enough? i want a family you always know that i never lied about not wanting kids!"
"Jimmy, i've never told you about my childhood before or even about any of my family other than when Dad married Rachel's mom. My mom had Huntingtons disease, it is a genetic disorder that killed her and i might have it!"
Sadie's mom had actually killed herself she was a manic depressive but this was more convincing.
"Do you have it?"
"i don't know, i would need to do a test but if i do... well Jimmy it isn't easy to live with and i don't want you to see me suffer. that's why i don't want to have children, i would never forgive myself for putting this curse on your children!"
Sadie thought to herself <he's believing it, you gullible twit,> Sadie hated children, they made her skin crawl, even when her dad had married Rachel's mom, he had had an affair with her and she became pregnant, he had seen Rachel grow up and after his first wife, Sadie's mother Katherine had killed herself, he quite easily moved in with Rachel and her mom, bringing Sadie with him, Sadie was 8 years older then Rachel, Rachel was 4 when they moved in, and it they had never got on, not till their were in their teens.
"why didn't you tell me this before, love, i would have understood, come here!"
Jimmy wrapped his arms around his wife.
<hook, line and sinker> Sadie smiled to herself.
"It's okay, love, we can have the test if you want and be prepared either way but if you don't want children that's okay"
Friday evening
“Are you ready, Rachel, at this rate we will be late for dinner, Tom said to be there at 7pm”
“okay, I’m coming!”
Rachel grabbed her handbag and taking one more glance at herself in the full-length mirror. She hated these kind of things, Sadie was always having dinner parties and Rachel had always made sure she was working for most of them. Also it had been nearly a year since she had seen Matthew and she wasn’t sure how she felt. It had been a brief fling but they had had a laugh and nobody had made her feel the way he had.
Rachel joined Sadie at the door of Home Farm. Sadie had gone all out for this one, she had spent most of the day in Leeds getting her hair and nails done, had bought a new dress too. Sadie took a look at Rachel and frowned. Rachel had opted on a plain black wrap dress which showed off her figure but was very simple.
“You’re not wearing that, are you?”
“yes, I’m not out to impress anyone, remember, I don’t even want to go!”
“okay, okay”
Rachel took Sadie’s car keys from her and made their way outside.
“when you getting a car?”
“wasn’t going to bother with one, had a look at a bike yesterday, might take it for a test drive tomorrow”
“Rachel you know how I feel about those thinks,”
“Did you talk to Jimmy”
“we talked for a while yesterday, asked him to come away with me for a few days so we can talk properly”
“and what did he say?”
“he had to ask Tom and Matthew for a few days, should know this evening”
“that’s great”
Rachel turned the car into the driveway for Holdgate Farm.
“I thought you said it was going to be a small dinner party?”
“did I? Not to sure how many coming to be honest?”
Rachel sighed and wished she had gone back to work.

Part 4
Tom greeted Rachel and Sadie at the door and offered them a drink, taking Rachel he brought her into the front room to meet some of the locals. Sadie made her way to the kitchen to find Jimmy, but to her delight she found Matthew in the kitchen on his own.
“well, lover, how come you haven’t returned any of my calls?”
“Sadie, what happened the other day shouldn’t have you are my sister-in-law and it was a big mistake”
Matthew walked around the table and put some distance between him and her. Tuesday had been a big mistake, he didn’t want a repeat and hopefully Sadie would take the hint. Matthew heard laughter coming from the front room, he recognised that laugh, he would recognise it anywhere. Matthew turned to see Rachel Winchester standing with her arm around Carl. She looked amazing, she had a black dress on her and he could have sweared it was the one he had bought her. She had left her hair down and it was slightly curled and everytime she moved it moved. He stood and watched her for a few moments.
“forget it, she’s not interested and I don’t think she would be happy to know about us”
Matthew turned to find Sadie standing behind him. She raised her glass to him.
“there is no us!”
“Matthew, why ever not we could be good together, just think what we could do with the business?”
“you are married to my brother and I would rather be tarred and feathered then to go near you again”
“oh, Matthew you didn’t say no, you wanted me and you will want me again, what would your father think if he knew you had betrayed your own brother?”
Sadie turned and walked into the front room. She went straight for Jimmy and put her arms around him, kissing him on the lips. She turned back and winked at Matthew.
Matthew thought to himself, she was right, Tom would never forgive him for what he had done, he was supposed to be the one with the most cop-on and control. He would have to find a way to shut her up and soon because he knew Sadie would get her own way and if she didn’t she would wreak havoc.
Tom called everyone to dinner. Matthew followed the guests in and looking to see where Rachel was sitting and trying to avoid Sadie’s looks. When he got into the dining room, he was to late, Rachel was sitting beside Rodney Blackstock and Carl. Tom had sat Sadie between Jimmy and Matthew, he persuaded Eric Pollard to let him sit beside Carl.
Rachel sat down and out of the corner of her eye she seen him, she felt her heart skip. <he still looked great,> She wondered how he felt, she had planned to wear a red dress but when she had discovered her black dress at the bottom of a suitcase, she knew this was the one. Matthew had taken her to Dublin for a weekend as a surprise and brought her shopping, he loved the dress on her and she always felt amazing when she wore it.
The dinner went great, no rows had broken out or no-one had been offended, Tom had worried all day about it after the last disaster but so far so good. Tom looked down the table at his friends and family and noting how happy Jimmy and Sadie were he hoped that they had put their problems behind them.
After the dinner, Matthew finally got a chance to speak to Rachel.
“Rachel, you look great”
“Thanks, Matthew”
“I hear you are transferring to Leeds, that’s great, are you going to stay at Home Farm?”
“I don’t think so, looked at two apartments in Leeds yesterday, have two more to look at and hopefully will have more luck with them”
“I have a cottage in the village if you want something short-term?”
“no thanks, Matthew, I want somewhere handy for work and near some nightlife, bit too quiet in the village for me”
Rachel refilled her glass and made her way back into the front room. The last thing she needed was to spend time alone with Matthew he still made her skin tingle, they hadn’t even touched but she could feel the tingles.
“What had he to say to you?” asked Sadie as she joined Rachel on the couch.
“just asking me whether I wanted to rent the cottage from him?”
“well, I hope you said no, he doesn’t deserve you, he’s a pig”
“what’s got into you, I thought you and Matthew got on?”
“we do but I’ve seen the way he treats women and I don’t want to see you hurt again”
Sadie watched Matthew talking to Rodney and Eric and thought to herself <if anyone was going to have Matthew it was going to be her, it had taken sometime but she finally had Matthew where she wanted him and nobody expected a thing, Matthew wouldn’t say anything to anyone>
“Did Jimmy organise some time off?”
“No, it doesn’t suit at the moment but we are going to go into Leeds tomorrow night and have dinner and stay in a hotel and I will talk to him them”
“I’m glad Sadie, once you tell Jimmy the truth, maybe you can work things out”
“hopefully”
-----------------------------

Part 5
Sunday evening, Rachel spent the day alone at Home Farm.
Rachel heard a knock at the door and went to see you was there. Opening the door she found Matthew standing with a bottle of wine.
“I heard you were on your own, thought you might like some company?”
“no, I’m fine, to be honest Matthew I’m working tonight was just sorting my uniform out”
“can I come in?”
“I guess”
Rachel stood back and let Matthew in.
“Any word from the lovebirds?”
“No, didn’t expect any, they get back tomorrow, I rang Sadie’s mobile and left a message that I was going back to work tonight”
“Dad mentioned you not happy, what’s happened? If I remember correctly it was all you wanted to do”
“Things change, I’ve changed,”
“are you sure that’s all it is?”
“it doesn’t really involve you anymore?”
“that wasn’t my choice, remember, if you need some help, I hope you would let me”
“it’s okay, I can sort it out myself, if that’s all you have to say, I really need to get going for work”
“Rachel, I still care, we could try again”
“no, it didn’t work then, it’s not going to work now,”
Matthew handed her the bottle of wine and left.
Rachel sat at the bottom of the stairs and wondered had she done the right thing. <it might have worked, but could she trust him, he had lied to her once would he do it again?>
Matthew turned the car for Leeds, he needed some time alone to think how he was going to make Rachel give him a second chance. His mobile phone rang and Sadie’s number came up on the screen. So much for spending the weekend with Jimmy to save their marriage, she had left over 10 messages this afternoon. <when was this b**ch going to get the hint> Matthew parked the car in front of a 2 storey detached house. He locked the car and made the way into his house. Turning on the hall light, he hit the button on the phone and noticed over 40 messages had been left, he pressed delete he knew they would be all from Sadie. Taking the phone of the hook, the last thing he needed was her ringing throughout the night. Matthew made his way upstairs. Hitting the light switch in the main room, he sat down on the bed and lifted a photo frame from the locker. He turned the radio on and sat back down.
The photo had been taken in Dublin, they had gone for a picnic in the Phoenix Park and a passer-by had agreed to take the photo, he had never been happier, they had never been happier. Then as usual he had put his big foot in and made a mess of probably the best thing that he would ever have. He had tried to make it up to her but no matter what he did, she couldn’t forgive him and over the last year he had realised why.
Sadie watched Jimmy sleeping, the half bottle of whiskey would do it every time. Sadie dialled the number again and waited for the anwering machine.
“Hello there, lover, beginning to get annoyed now, will just have to tell Jimmy, what you’ve done, he will understand, I was vulnerable and you took advantage of me, he will forgive me. Tom will forgive me too but will he be able to forgive you, he knows that you hurt Rachel do you really think he will let you hurt me as well, I don’t think so?”
---------------------------------------------------

Part 6
Rachel checked herself over in the small mirror on her locker and once she was happy with how she looked she made her way to the briefing room. As she entered some of the other officers looked towards her and nodded. Just as she had seated their superintendent came in and called them to attention. After a couple of minutes discussing some cases, Superintendent Murphy introduced Rachel to her fellow officers. She was partnered with a Gary Shortall and they would be providing backup for a drugs raid which was to take place later that night. She introduced herself to Gary and followed him out to the patrol car.
“I’ll drive for the first few nights till you get settled in, if that suits?”
“That’s fine by me”
“Have you ever been on a raid before?”
“a good few, regular occurrence in London, what’s this place like that we are raiding tonight?”
“a nightclub, new owners and being getting a great crowd over the last couple of months, we’ve had two officers on undercover for a month now and they estimate £2,000 been made on drugs alone, how come you transferred?”
“have family living in Emmerdale felt like a change”
“right”
“okay, what have you heard?”
“heard?”
“Come on, I’m not stupid, I know that rumours have been spread?”
“so no truth in them?”
“depends what ones you’ve heard?”
“drugs, sex, taking money”
“god they’ve been busy! None of the above I’m sorry to disappoint, a misunderstanding with a colleague that seems to have got way out of hand”
“that can happen with them boys in London”
“to be honest Gary, even before all this shit happened I was thinking of packing it in”
“why?”
“had enough! Simple as that, want to spread my wings a bit more, joined straight out of college, nearly 6 years now and because of Denning I missed out on a promotion”
“met Denning once, bad egg if you ask me?”
‘Tango Bravo 6’
“that’s us, no rest for the wicked…. Control this is Tango Bravo 6”
Rachel’s first night at work went fine. Maybe she would give it a few months before making any rash decisions about the future. She loved her job and was good at it too.
“Good afternoon, Rachel”
“Hello there, how was your weekend?”
“Lovely, the time away was just what we needed, we are going to give it another go, Jimmy’s moving back in today”
“Oh, sis, I’m delighted for you, for both of you, put a deposit on a place in Leeds so will be out of your hair in a couple of days”
“how’s work”
“great so far”
“thinking of having a dinner party here next Friday night will you get the night of, I would love you to be here”
“I’ll see what I can do, going to go for a run before I get ready for work, will I see you before I go in?”
“Jimmy and I are having dinner with Charity and Tom at 7,”
“I will see you before I go to work”
Sadie watched Rachel leave. After she was sure she was gone, she pressed redial on her phone and waited for him to answer.
Rachel made her way down through the village and out the Hotten Road. She heard a car approach and standing back onto the grassy verge she watched the car slow down.
“hi, there fancy meeting you here?”
“Matthew”
“so how did your first day back at work go?”
Matthews phone started to ring.
“you not going to answer that?”
“no, no one important”
“hmmm, I hope that’s not what you said when I used to ring you?”
“definitely not, you were important to me and still are!”
“Let’s not go there again, please”
Rachel stood up as Matthew got out of his car. She leaned back against the wall. Matthew came around beside her and stood opposite her.
“are you ever going to forgive? I know what I did was inexcusable but I have apologised more than once, we were good together even as just friends we were good together and to be honest Rachel I miss having you as a friend”
“I miss you too, but we can only be friends”
“friends”
Matthew stepped forward to hug her and at first she thought against it but as he came closer to her she thought what harm could a hug do.
They hugged each other and they both lingered. As they separated they paused and Matthew raised his hand to her face, gently rubbing her cheek.
“I’ve missed you”
Rachel raised her hand and held his hand to her face, enjoying the familiar feeling.
“I better get going, don’t want to cool down anymore or will pay for it tonight at work, see you around”
Rachel turned back towards the village and left Matthew to watch her jog away.
She daren’t look back, she wanted to but if he was still watching he would know then that she still cared and she wasn’t ready for that, not yet.
As she jogged back towards the village, she thought back………..
Rachel splashed her face with water and looked up at herself in the mirror. She had spent the last few hours in bed and the pain hadn’t eased off at all if anything it was getting worse. After she dried her face, she redialled Matthew’s mobile and waited for him to answer. It just rang our. <damn you Matt, where are you?> Rachel doubled over with pain and decided she couldn’t just stay here anymore. “hello, ambulance please, my address is 5 Pilkington Terrace” The ambulance took about 10 minutes, she buzzed the paramedics up and waited at the top of the stairs for them.
Matthew returned the next morning to find their apartment empty and a note saying gone to St Josephs Hospital. When he got there he found Rachel in the gynaecology department after talking to her doctor he made his way to her room. He found her curled up in her bed asleep. When Rachel came through she woke to find Matthew sitting watching her. “why didn’t you tell me?” “I didn’t know, I haven’t missed any periods but the doctor told me its common enough to be pregnant and still have your period, oh Matt, where were you, I tried your phone at least twenty times?” “I got held up at a meeting, I’m sorry, Rachel I’m so sorry”. Matthew held her.
After a stay of 10 days in the hospital, She was eventually allowed home, she had been 4 months pregnant and hadn’t even known it, now the baby was gone and they had had to give her an emergency hysterectomy. If they hadn’t she would have died but at that moment that’s all she wanted was to be dead, she hadn’t planned on having a family not for a while her career was finally taking off but she did want a family some day and now that was never going to happen. After four days of being nursed by Matthew she eventually persuaded him to go back to work. She had taken it easy for a couple of hours and while getting a drink she found a couple of newspapers thrown in the bin. She pulled two or three out and sat down to read through them, it didn’t take her long to find it, A Match made In Heaven the caption read. Rachel looked at the picture a couple of times and at the date. He had lied he hadn’t been at a meeting with his father, he had taken her out, her being his ex, daughter of local business tycoon Timothy Williams, according to the paper it was only a matter of weeks maybe even days before they would announce their engagement.
Matthew returned home to find the apartment empty, all Rachel had left was the newspaper seating on the kitchen counter and her keys.
