Part oneHome Farm lounge, Charity is putting her shoes on when Zoe comes in just after being in the bathroom.CHARITY - I can’t believe it, he’s such a nosey sod. ZOE - We need to do something Charity, we don’t want this exposed. CHARITY - I think we should invite ‘im round and explain. I’ll go after ‘im now. ZOE - No, Charity we need to think. CHARITY - What’s there to think abou’, we need to go after ‘im now before the whole village find out in a half hour’s time. ZOE - Yes alright, I’ll get the car ready, we’ll go now. CHARITY - Yeah, the sooner, the be’er. Zoe grabs her keys and both head out of the door. 5 minutes later Charity steps out of the land rover and storms into the Woolpack.
CHARITY - Where’s Paul? (customers stare at her) Charity rushes into the back room where Diane and Paul are sitting.CHARITY - Right, I wanna word with you. DIANE - Oi whatcha think ya doin’ ? CHARITY - Come to get a few answers from your nancy nephew. PAUL - Well I could say the same about you! DIANE - Whatever this is about don’t involve me, you can take this outside if you Like. CHARITY - Just tell me who you’ve told? PAUL - What? About your little liaison? CHARITY - Don’t play games wi’ me Paul, I suppose half the village know by now don’t they? DIANE - Right that’s enough, what’s goin’ on? Part 2 will be coming soon, when I have time ( got A'level studies to be getting on with  ) Hope you like Part one though.

Part two
Zoë is waiting outside the Woolpack in her land rover anxiously, she steps out of her car and enters the pub. Betty is sitting at the bar.
ZOE - Betty, did you by any chance see Charity in here?
BETTY - Yes, I saw her going through to the backroom love. Why something going on?
ZOE - No Betty, I’ll just pop through thanks.
BETTY - (shouts) Any chance of a sherry?
Zoë walks through to the back room of the Woolpack where Charity, Paul and Diane are. Charity has a scowl on her face, Diane looks confused and Paul looks as though he is enjoying the moment.
PAUL - Ah, the second half has arrived!
ZOE - Paul, what are you talking about? Diane, has he told you anything about Charity and I at Home Farm?
DIANE - I haven’t got a clue what you’re on about. Charity started shouting the odds over something, Paul seems to know, but I don’t, so tell me.
Zoë and Charity look at each other. Paul looks at them as if to say tell her.
PAUL - Go on, tell my auntie what you two have been up to.
DIANE - This sounds interesting.
CHARITY - It’s none of ya business ya nosey cow.
DIANE - Ey! Don’t speak to me like that or you can get outta me pub.
ZOE - Come on Charity, It’s obvious Paul hasn’t told
anyone, lets go.
CHARITY - No, Paul is bluffin’, course he told ‘er, bet they act all innocent coz they wanna spread it without it getting back to ‘em.
ZOE - Me and Charity have been having…<br>
DIANE - An affair!!!! Another one?
CHARITY - What sort of affair though, Paul?
PAUL - Do I have to spell it out for you, they were canoodling on the couch, does that answer your question, Charity?
Zoë and Charity look at each other and laugh.
PAUL - What’s so funny? It’s almost like you deny it.
CHARITY - Ooh yeah Paul, wanna join in?
(Zoë laughs)
DIANE - Oh shut ya filthy mouth and get out.
CHARITY - With pleasure, oh and stay out of our business, yeah?
ZOE - Thanks for your time, we’re heading back now, bye.
Zoë and Charity stroll out of the Woolpack living area with their hands around their waists. It’s obvious Betty has been listening.
CHARITY - Betty don’t poke ya nose where it don’t belong, alright?
BETTY - I was only helping myself to a sherry, (shouts) Since there is no service out here.
ZOE - Hmm, Betty I think that’s called stealing! Diane won’t be pleased.
Zoë and Charity get back into the land rover and drive back to Home Farm. Meanwhile, back with Diane and Paul……
DIANE - You knew they were having an affair and you didn’t think to tell me?
PAUL - I knew Charity would come round shouting the odds, I didn’t need to tell you, she told you herself.
DIANE - Yes but the thing is, Charity was angry at you thinking you told me, but when I mentioned the word affair she had no problem with it cause she was all over Zoë. So if she didn’t want us to know, then why didn’t she deny it? Zoë too? Something else is going on which they thought you knew about.
PAUL - I see, well spotted. We must find out, I’m
intrigued.
DIANE - We’ll find out sooner or later. Come on lets serve some customers.

Hiya!
It is brilliant so far, but I did find part 2 a tiny, wee bit confusing in bits. But re reading it in a couple of places never hurt anyone.
I wonder what the secret is though? And I'm puzzled about the title's involvement as well. "The prolonged engagement"

The title is fine I'd say, as it - like the story - is really, really mysterious. By the way, if you've got time then I please, please drop by "The Black Sheep" and add some on or at least give me some feedback.
