Some hours later, chas and carl are sitting next to an incubator, not really sure what happened. Carl held chas close.

''I take it you are Ellie's parents'' a doctor said as he came over.

chas nodded her head in respnse to his question.

''what's wrong with her, is she going to be ok'' Carl asked sounding worried.

''Yes she'll be fine, we're not quite sure what happened, but Ellie seems to be ok now, we'll keep her up here on special care for another 24 hours, just to be on the safe side, then you should be able to take her home''

Chas gave a sigh of relief.

At home farm

Scarlett was sitting at the table in the kitchen having some lunch.

Matthew, Jimmy, Kelly and Carrie all entered the kitchen.

''Hiya scaz, u alright'' kelly said when she seen scarlett.

''ye,........... mum can we go and see ellie later on'' Scarlett asked, almost begging, she had been asking all morning, but carrie had said to give chas and carl some time.

'' I suppose so, Matt can give carl a call and see when visiting is, and jimmy and kelly can go and buy a pressie' Carrie said as if she where boss of the world.

''yes mam'' jimmy,kelly and matt all said at once, before leaving the kitchen with their orders.

LATER THAT DAY

Scarlett and Carrie were both sitting in the lounge in Home Farm

Jimmy, and Kelly entered

Carrie: I hope you’s have got a decent pressie

Jimmy: of course Kelly picked it

Scarlett: so when are we going, I’m so excited

Kelly: well Matthew was phoning were is he?

They all looked at each other, and after a few minutes silence Jimmy got his phone out.

It started ringing

Jimmy: Hello matt, ye its jimmy so when are visiting times then?

Matthew: O about that a phoned Carl about an hour ago, and he said just to leave it

Jimmy: why? (Everyone else in the room was now looking at Jimmy)

Matthew: Ellie was rushed up to intensive care she stopped breathing

Jimmy: (concerned) is she all right? What’s happening now?

Matthew: She’s ok now, but I think it was a bit of a shock especially Chas so he said just to leave going today, and they should hopefully be home tomorrow anyway.

Jimmy: oh ye that’s ok as long as Ellie’s Ok.

Matthew: ye she’s fine, look I’ll be home in ten anyway am just locking up the office.

Jimmy: All right see ya. Bye

Matthew: bye

JIMMY PUT THE PHONE DOWN

Carrie: (looking concerned) what’s happened?

Jimmy: A don’t really no, Ellie was rushed to intensive care, she stopped breathing, but she’s ok now

Scarlett: so can we go and visit?

Jimmy: Sorry Scaz, Carl just said were to leave it today, and they’ll probably be coming home tomorrow anyway

Scarlett looked quite disappointed when she heard jimmy’s words.

Carrie stood up

Carrie: a will go and make some coffee then

Carrie left for the kitchen

THE NEXT DAY

Scarlett was at school; Carrie, Matt and Jimmy were all at office.

It’s about 12pm

Carl walked back through from the kitchen with two cups of coffee

Chas was sat on the couch holding Ellie

Chas: Thanks babe

Chas replied as Carl put her coffee down on the table

Carl: no problem hunny,

Carl sat down beside Chas and put his arms around her.

Chas was so happy she had never really experienced this maternal feeling before, she thought back to when Aaron had came back from the hospital, she had, had no one to help her then, no one had really cared, not even Gordon.

The three of them sat in silence for a few moments, Carl and Chas just looking at their beautiful daughter.

Carl: I love you so much, you no that

Chas: I love you to

They gazed into each other’s eyes for a couple of minutes, until Ellie starting to cry interrupting the moment of peace.

Carl: guess we better get used to this then

Chas just laughed, she held her daughter close and kissed her gently on the forehead.

Carl: I guess now, were home I better phone everyone, apparatantly Scarletts been begging for days to come and see her.

Carl got up from his seat and walked towards the door, to make the phone call to Pear Tree Cottage, as he left he looked over at Chas and Ellie, he couldn’t believe how happy he felt.

A few weeks later

Carl, Chas and Ellie were in the garden of home farm, a blanket on the ground, and two glasses of champagne sat on the grass. The sun was beaming down. They were both lying down on the blanket with Ellie in between them. Perfect. Chas had never felt so happy before; everything in her life was going right; she had the best boyfriend in the world and a gorgeous daughter.

Ellie now about three weeks old was happily lying there kicking her legs like she was running a marathon, a smile on her face.

“ So what do you want to do tomorrow?” Carl asked Chas as he gazed up at the clear blue sky.

“Anything, as long as I’m with you and Ellie, how about we go into Hotten, we need to get something for Scarlets’ birthday next week, then we could go a walk somewhere just us three”

“Sounds perfect” Carl replied


At about 10pm Carl came downstairs and went through to the kitchen.

“Where’s Chas and Ellie” Scarlet asked, she was still slightly obsessed with Ellie she absolutely adored her.

“Both fast asleep” Carl replied as he poured himself a coffee. He had never felt happier in his life, he was happy when Thomas and Anya where born but he was never this happy with Colleen.

Just as Carl sat on the couch in the lounge where Matt and Jimmy also were the doorbell rang.

Scarlet shouted through from the kitchen that she would answer it.

After a few moments of talking to the woman at the door Scarlet shouted on Carl.

Carl came thought from the lounge, confused as to who would be looking for him.

“Hello Carl never thought I’d see you again”

The woman entered the hall, with a small boy in tow, round about 4 years old.

“Chloe, what the hell do you think your doing turning up here” Carl said trying to remain calm.

“Well I thought it was about time you met your son” Chloe replied with a small smug grin on her face.

Carl just stood there in shock looking at the boy.

Matthew and Jimmy were both curious as to who was at the door so decided to see what was happening in the hall.

Jimmy and Matthew both at the same time exclaimed “Chloe” as they seen her standing there.

“Well aren’t you going to get me a cup of tea and talk to your son. Bradley this is your Daddy I was telling you about Carl” Chloe said.

Carl was still glued to the spot, not really sure what to say, why when his life starts to look up does something always go wrong. If this was true what was he going to tell Chas, and Ellie he had to think about them? Him and Chas had never been so happy, settling down having a baby, maybe moving out into there own place and once they were ready getting married.

“Scarlet, can you go upstairs and make sure Chas and Ellie are asleep,” Carl asked

Scarlet seemed very confused but done as Carl told her to do and headed up the stairs.

Matthew and Jimmy both just stood there not saying anything-just standing!!

“OO so you and Chas are still together then?”

“Yes we are, we’re perfectly happy” Carl replied quite angrily

“We’ll leave you two alone” Jimmy Said and headed into the lounge where Matthew followed.

“Ellie?”

“Mine and Chas’ daughter, Chloe what the hell do you think your doing just turning up out the blue and telling me you’ve got my son”

“Well he is” Chloe said putting her hands on Bradley’s shoulders. “Well and pretty sure anyway”

Carl was so angry and confused at this point that he just snapped

“Well until you give me proof I want you to leave me and Chas alone and don’t ever show your face around here again”

Carl literally shoved Chloe out the door and slammed it shut, before re-entering the lounge and pouring himself a large brandy.

Carl sat down and Matt and Jimmy both looked at each other before looking at Carl.

“Well what are you gonna do? Jimmy asked Carl being careful with what he said.

“What do you mean what am I going to do, Nothing that’s what I’m going to do” Carl replied in a slightly raised tone.

“Nothing” Matthew said

“Yip, nothing, I mean how can he be my son”

“Quite easily, actually”

All sorts were going through Carl’s head at this moment in time.
What if that was his son, what would he do, what would he tell Chas?

Carl got up of the sofa, and before Matthew or Jimmy could say anything else he left and headed up the stairs, praying that Chas was already asleep.

Carl hopped into bed and wrapped his arms round a half asleep Chas. Thinking about what was going to happen next, If Brad was his son he would want to see him, but he knew that this would cause problems for him and Chas. And he didn’t want that after everything they’d been through, he couldn’t cause the woman he loved anymore hurt.

The next morning when Chas woke up Ellie was awake but Carl was still sleeping so she figured she should just leave him to sleep in. As she entered the kitchen with Carl
T-shirt on holding Ellie, she was startled as she walked into the kitchen and seen Chloe.

sorry its not very long , been busy the last few days. Once i get back into writing the story it should hopefully get better

Chas just stood there completely speechless

“Well aren’t you going to give me a big hug?” Chloe said in an almost sarcastic tone, standing up and outing her arms out.

Chas just stood there in utter disbelief, after everything Chloe had done to her and Carl she had a cheek turning up here. The poison pen letters, pretending she was pregnant.

“What do you think your doing here, just turning up like this” Chas asked trying to remain calm

“I’ve not just got here, didn’t Carl tell you I was here last night, introducing him to his son” Chloe spitefully said, she hated Chas, Chloe had always felt like Carl was hers and then Chas had stole him of her. “She’s beautiful by the way” Chloe added looking at Ellie.

“What do you mean his son?” Chas asked slightly confused

“His son, Bradley, I thought it was about time he met his father, you see I done another pregnancy test once I left the village and it was positive”

Chloe’s phone rang and as she answered it she left the room

Chas sat down at the kitchen table holding Ellie and was in total disbelief.

At that precise moment Carl entered the kitchen he looked as if he hadn’t slept at all. He kissed Chas and Ellie and went behind the breakfast bar and put the kettle on.

“What’s up babe?” Carl asked Chas, he thought she seemed awfully quite

Chas stood up and handed Ellie to Carl

“Maybe she’s the problem,” Chas said as Chloe re-entered the kitchen

“Morning Carl, Matthew let me in, I thought we should get this out the way, a DNA test today at Hotten medical surgery”

“What? I told you last night to leave and never come back, I don’t want to see you or Bradley and if he was my son, if it causes problems for me and Chas then I don’t want to see him” Carl replied shocked that Chloe thought she could just waltz in as if she owned the place.

Chas just walked out the kitchen, she couldn’t believe what was happening, why when things start to go right for her and Carl did something always have to ruin it.

Carl figured he had better leave Chas to cool off for a bit, so after he managed to get rid of Chloe he got Ellie ready. And then went off to find Chas.

Jimmy “ were you off to”

Carl “have to find Chas, you’ve not seen her have you?”

Jimmy “sorry mate, nope, if Chloe comes back al send her on her way”

Carl gave Jimmy a thankful smile and headed out the door pushing Ellie in her pram.

A load was going through his mind as he was walking, what if this split him and Chas up, he thought that it probably wouldn’t but if it did what would he do. He needed her. Having Ellie had brought them so much closer than they were, he couldn’t lose that. He looked down at Ellie who was happily smiling away in her pram.

As he looked up he saw Chas sitting on a rock at the edge of the river. He walked up behind her and put the brake on the pram. He sat beside her.

Chas looked at Carl

Chas ”What are you doing here?”

Carl “I wasn’t going to sit in the house and leave you”

Chas “What are you going to do?”

Carl “Nothing, I don’t want anything to spoil what we have and this will”

Chas “Carl…I want you to have the DNA test. Please”

Carl “But what if…he is mine”

Chas “Then we’ll get through it together, I’m sure Chloe will let you see him”

Carl “Are you sure?”

Chas “Yes, I know you’ll regret it for the rest of your life if you don’t”

They both stood up, and Carl hugged Chas and kissed her on the head.
