Trouble in Paradise.

One early summer's morning Scarlett was out riding a horse with her friend Abi along a back road when this car that they have never seen came speeding up behind them with the music blearing out.
Lucas the horse started to bolt due to the noise of the car.

Suddenly the car stopped very quickly nearly skidding after nearly running over the rider as Scarlett had been knocked off the horse.Toby Abi's horse was fine by this & Abi jumped down to help her best friend up.
Scarlett was slightly shocked & saw this man getting out of the car along with the male passenger to check how she was but she started to have a go out them especially the driver who turned out to be Mr's Matthew & Carl King.


Scarlett 'What the hell were you doing? you could of killed me'

Matthew 'I am so sorry, are you alright ?'

Scarlett ' What do you think ? '

Abi & Carl try to diffuse the situation as Scarlett is still laying into Matthew.

Scarlett still feels too shocked to ride Lucas back to the yard so they decide to lead the horses back.

Matthew is still trying to made amends to Scarlett even by offering dinner at a fancy dinner but she is flatly refusing to have anything with him.

Scarlett is new to the area after just moving up from Cricklewood in London after her fiance dumped her by having a few affairs which has made her sworn off men for a while.So the girls have not heard off the Kings.

Anyway as the girls & horses walked off down the road.

Matt & Carl got back into the car but Matthew was already smitten by the stranger as he has never had a woman who has been so feisty turned him down before & he was in shock.

Matthew turned to Carl & said ' Wow what a woman!! I loved to meet her again & maybe get to know her. Did you see her pert bottom she looked lovely in the jodpurs!!.''

Carl laughed & said 'what are you like ? '

Abi & Scarlett were talking about meeting the men when they got back to the yard.Abi was raving about Carl that was hot & she would not mind looking after him.Yes you guessed it Abi is a nurse.
Abi turned to Scarlett & said 'His brother was cute' to which Scarlett kind of agreed but said 'he was so up himself & arrogant'

Matthew & Carl got to Leeds in time for their meeting but Matthew had something or somebody on his mind.

Carl noticed Matthew's strange behaviour & said 'what is wrong Matthew ?'

Matthew replied 'it is strange Carl,but I keep thinking about the girls we met this morning I would loved to meet her again & get to know her more.'

Carl said 'Well you just have to deal with it just incase you never see her again.'

Matthew was disappointed with his brother's lack of interest in him.



Life got back to normal for a while until one day Matthew & Abi's path crossed in the local shop as Abi was the stand in midwife who had just visited Samson Dingle while the normal village midwife was off sick.

Abi was buying some wine,stamps & food in Viv's shop but as she was walking out of the door she & Matthew walked into each other & instantly recognized each other from the other month.

Abi was talking to Matthew about Scarlet but he was getting disappointed as she was not giving much away apart from the fact that they have moved up from London to escape from Scarlett's old fiance.

Abi was more interested in getting to know much better but was disappointed to be told that Carl already has a girlfriend Chas but she is ok about it.

Matthew is trying to grill her about Scarlett & where do they live etc but Abi does not give much away.

Just at that moment Carl spots his brother talking to Abi & goes over to say hi.

Abi seems pleased to see Carl again & they flirt together.

Carl tells Abi that Matthew has spoken non stop about their first meeting & that he wants to get to know Scarlett better.

Matthew throws Carl a look much to say thats enough.

Abi asks for Matthew's number so she can pass it on to Scarlett.

Matthew looks pleased as punch incase he might see her again.

They end the conversation & the men head off to the Wool pack while Abi heads off to the cottage that she has rented off along with her friend who just so happens to be Scarlett.

Later when Scarlett arrives to the cottage Abi tells her that she bumped into Matthew earlier who can't stop thinking about her & she managed to get his number for her.

Scarlett starts to soften up to Matthew.

They decide to pop into the Woolly & they see the brothers sitting at a table & poor Matthew can not believe his luck to see Scarlett again.

The girls stand at the bar talking to Lisa Dingle & Diane about how they have just moved into Dyke dell cottage & Lisa said that Abi was the new midwife & that was wonderful with Samson.


Eventually after loads of encouragement from Carl Matthew plucks up the courage to go over & speak to Scarlett as they have been looking at each other since they walked into the pub.


After a few drinks Scarlett told Matthew why they moved up from the big smoke to escape her ex- fiance who always treated her badly by having affairs with various women & even the time that Lee threatened to kick the baby out of her if she ever got pregnant.
Matthew was disgusted to hear all this & he told her that Lee must of been mad to have affairs as she was the best looking women in the whole wide world which he did really mean this as he was not the type of man who said it to any one.

Scarlett was still slightly wary of this as she had her fingers burnt by men in the past.

Carl & Chas also came over to tell Scarlet tabout Matthew spoke about her non -stop since that morning Carl even joked that Matt was boring everyone about her.

Scarlett nipped to the toilet with Chas while the brothers chatted. Matthew vowed to Carl that he was not going to let Scarlett slip through his fingers once again & he said that the more I speak to her the more spellbound I feel for her.
Carl told his brother to go for it.

Chas & Scarlett were chatting in the loos like us women do.

Chas explained that Matthew has not much luck with women but he does seem to worship you Scarlett.From that moment Chas,Scarlett & Abi become firm friends.

Abi tells Chas that she will not let her friend get hurt again but Chas does reassure the girls & they arrange a womens night out on Friday in Leeds.

Matthew is chuffed that Scarlett agrees to meet up with him again so they swap numbers but she tells him that she wants to take it slowly & he agrees
with this even though they share a kiss together.

Just at this time Sadie walks in & gets jealous by trying to course trouble Chas manages to scare her off.

Everyone in the pub especially Carl & Abi notice that the new couple have chemistry between them.


Everything in the garden is rosy for this couple & after a while they decide to move in together as they are so happy.
Everyone has noticed a change in Matthew's behaviour he has become more mellowed out even in business matters unless it involves Sadie King.


Then Sadie came back from her holiday to see how happy Matt & Scarlet are so she plotted to split them up in any way she could.

Sadie paid a yob to trash Scarlett's beloved car Matthew wanted to buy her another one but Scarlett would not let him saying she could afford it herself.
Matthew was not used to a girlfriend who refused him giving them money.

Scarlett brought another car & then they booked a holiday abroad.


As Sadie & her cronies started to mess up their lives especially Scarlet's in revenge for taking her Matthew away from her & she vowed if I can't have him
no one can.................

At first Scarlett was guarded person who liked to keep her private life private as being a successful model she didn't want people to just assume that she is an airhead and plus she did not want the whole village to know about her life she was guardian to Ashlee who was her one year old niece she was granted custody as Scarlett's sister Trina suffered from drug abuse & Scarlett had enough when she found out that Trina had got caught smuggling drugs in the country so she had a long prison sentence to do and plus their parents Barbara & Alan were too busy working aboard helping the children in poorer countries in fact other peoples children seemed to matter to them than their own children.


From day one Scarlett was honest with Matt telling him about her past,Ashlee and her modelling where anyone could sell their story to a newspaper about her like one time when she met this man Pete Collan at a party with her friends Rae & Jasmine all she was to this man was hello then off he went to the paper saying that they were going to get married but Scarlett was a drug taker which was complete rubbish as she had seen what drugs had done to her family & Ashlee was actually born hooked on herion so she had to endure going through cold turkey.Matt listenend to everything that Scarlett had been through with tears running down his face and enveloping her in his arms telling her that she was the best thing in the whole world and that she was safe now.

He also told her that he wanted to help her bring up Ashlee like a real family as he said that she was the only thing that he ever cared about ever even with all the women that had ever been in his life he really did mean it this time.

Meanwhile sad Sadie hated the fact that Matthew was smitten by his new lady friend so she began to plot how she could split them up then she would off win her Matthew back and all of his money. Plus Sadie was very angry to hear that Tom & the rest of the family loved Scarlett she seemed to think that they were treating her like a princess then after a large drinking session she vowed revenge on her especially.

Sadie looking at the mirror '' I show her that I can get him back if I can't have him NOBODY CAN!'' shouted to Cain who was dozing off in the chair next to her.

Cain waking up quickly 'What! you are not on about Matthew's new bird again are ya?' siting bolt up right in the chair.

Sadie looking at Cain bending down to his eye level 'Yes I am,I AM GOING TO BRING THAT BITCH DOWN like I did to that other slapper Charity, plus Cain you are going to help me' she told him.

Cain 'what do you suggest we do?' asking her calmly.

Sadie then replies ' I am still thinking about it but by the time we are finished she is going to wish that she had never been born.' Sadie laughs.


Meanwhile in Victoria Cottage Scarlett & Matthew are having a heart to heart about their pasts.Matthew is still tearful from hearing about Scarlett's last romance with Lee Anderson one of the top footballers in the UK who used to beat her senseless every day all day unless he was away playing football,training or sleeping around with women from clubs.To the outside world they seemed to be the perfect couple but behind closed doors he took his bad temper out on her even burning her with a iron on her back while she fed Ashlee one night.She put up with this for a few years as she thought that he loved her but one day while at a party at the club he had sex with another woman in the toilet then Scarlett just happened to go to the toilet as she walked in they had just finished & were getting dressed he saw Scarlett grapped her smacked her hard in the face a couple of times while punching her in the ribs then he grapped her hair then dragged her just by her hair through the toilet main door while people looked in horror then he pushed her through down the stairs into the glass door below.Scarlett was badly hurt just laided there on the floor unable to move whlie people flocked all around her.
Calum Best one of her best friends punched Lee just before the police came to arrest Lee for ABM ( actual body harm) Calum went to the hosiptal with Scarlett after he phoned Abi to tell her what had happened.

Eventually Calum managed to talk sense to Scarlett about leaving Lee as he was never going to change.Scarlett decided to leave him after the court case where Lee got only two years for this attack but he vowed revenge on Scarlett.

When Abi said that she had got a new job as a district nurse in the Yorkshire Dales Scarlett decided to join her as Calum could always pop up every so often so here she was.

Matt and Scarlett were hugging whlie she was resting her head on his chest they both had tears running down their faces Matt was kissing the top of her head gently smelling her lovely perfume the same one that she had on their first meeting.

Matt said to Scar as he liked to call her 'I really love you baby you mean the world to me and I will never let you go babe' still kissing her.

Scarlett said to Matthew 'that is all I really love you too hon I suppose that I mistook that for love as I never really been shown any in the past expect from Abi's family,Ash & Calum.I really do not know my parents had my sister & myself as they never really paid us any attention or love.That is why I chosen to bring up Ash differently. ' she whispers stroking his hands gently smelling his aftershave.

Matt 'Who is Callum' looking puzzled still kissing her head gently then playing with her beautiful long hair that some has fallen over her face.


She looks up at him in a loveling way 'Calum is like my protective big brother that is all, infact I think that you will get on well together'.


Scarlett loved Matthew for him not for his money and personally would not care if he was poor.

After all that they just cuddled up on the sofa for the rest of the night until Ash woke up.

Scarlett went up stairs to see Ash while Matt opened a bottle of wine walking back into the front room with two glasses then sitting down the next minute scarlett came back down with Ash who just would not go back to sleep.

Matt looked slightly disappointed to see Ash down stairs. 'So sorry babe but she would not go back to sleep so I thought that if I brought her down with us for a bit she would soon fall alseep again' Scarlett said quietly.

'Nevermind plus it will give me a chance to get to know her probably don't you think baby' Matt said while Scarlett got Ash a drink coming back into the room sitting next to Matt on the sofa kissing his cheek.

They settled down to watch trashy tv programmes with Ash inbetween them all cuddling up. Soon enough Ash had gone back to sleep so Scarlett carried her back upstairs.


Then they opened the wine snuggled down again with Scarlett resting her head on her man's lap.

They are so smitten with each other that they could not bear to parted from each other so if Scarlett went on a casting Matthew would try to go with her and he was even seriously thinking of proprosing to her as he knew that he never felt so strongly about anyone ever in his life he loved her much much more than Sadie.Matthew even surprised himself by thinking that he wanted to settle down with his perfect woman and her niece to have a happy family & maybe they could even have their own children together.
Luckly he got on well with Ash he didn't even mind when she scribbled on his paperwork or was sick indoors which impressed Scar.


After a while Scarlett & Matthew had not been getting on as usual as Sadie's plans as she caused lots of trouble between them cancelling their hotel bookings, damaging her car,spoiling their time out in the pub & selling her stories to the papers that Scarlett is an escort plus much more.We know what Sadie is like basically she felt that Scarlett had got the upper hand as most of the village like her & plus she thought that Scarlett had access to the Kings money which she didn't like especially as her half- sister Ella got on so well with Scarlett.
The happy couple began to row over different things One day when the girls were off work they decieded to go shopping for a friend's forecoming wedding.Scarlett had arranged to pick up Chas & Abs (as she called her as they had become friends at primary school) to go shopping in Leeds for a friends party in a couple of weeks.
Matt was away on business when Scarlett got a call to say that Matt was sleeping around & Scar had a blazing row with him over the phone telling him that she was leaving as she felt that she could not trust him anymore then told him to get stuffed & she put the phone down but he kept trying to phone her back but she was not answering.

She was very upset starting to pack some of her bits into the car when Carl spotted her crying he went over to find out what had happened to her plus Carl secretly likes Scarlett & they had always had a friendly/flirty bond between them.

Carl said that Matt really loves her so he would not cheat on her but then Carl tried to phone Matt but a woman answered his phone saying that they were in bed together & Matt had just popped to the toilet by then Scarlett said that is enough & got into her car very upset by this time Chas came over after coming out of Viv's shop saw Scarlett driving off at high speed through the village Carl had jumped into his car shouted at Chas to come saying that he was worried that Scarlett would do something silly so Carl sped out of the village after Scarlett's car.
While this was happening Matt was driving back from Hull so he would not of seen Scarlett driving passed him.
Just as Scarlett was driving around the corner this big van was coming straight at her she went to break but the pedal was not working.She screamed while trying to stear the car away from the van but the car was not doing anything at that time the car & van crashed head on.Carl & Chas screamed Chas started to phone 999 while Carl started to panic.

By this time Matt got home walked in the door & saw the letter from Scarlett began reading it until Carl phoned to say about the accident he dropped the letter & run out of the house with tears streaming down his face panicking. Scarlett could move as she was trapped with a big metal pole sticking into her stomach bleeding badly, she was crying quietly while Carl was taking to her holding her hand he told her that Matt was on his way but she kept saying no,no.


By the time that Matt got there the ambulance,fire engine & the police were all there he ran over to Carl & Chas by Scarlett's car seeing how badly injuired she was he broke down.Finally she was pulled out of the car it was clear that she was in a really bad way she was in & out of consciousness.Matthew was really upset he went in the ambulance with them while Chas & Carl went in his car to the hospital.

At the hospital Scarlett continued to bleed heavily but the Doctors could not find out why, they eventually find out that Scarlett was eight & a half months pregnant but nobody knew as it was a hidden pregnancy the baby had grown in her back she had no symptoms she was still having her periods like she did last week.

This news was too much to take for Matt as the doctors told them bascially it is either the mum or baby who has to be saved unfortunately not both of them! Poor Matthew was beside himself with panic & worry.

Matt - ' How can I live without her ? I can't I love her so much,if she dies then so will I' he cried to Carl sobbing in Carl's arms.

Carl -'Scarlett will pull through she is a fighter I promise you bro' he replied sobbing.

The rest of the family turned up all upset at the news.

The doctor came back to speak to the family

Matthew asked if someone could contact Scarlett's parents who were in Africa on aid work but they said 'oh we are too busy to come over'

Carl- 'Your daughter could die don't you think that you should come to see her ? '

Barbara- ' Well there are people dying all the time here anyway she is old enough to look after herself by now'.

Carl could not believe his ears ' Well screw you then she is much better off without you two'


Barbara -' Well she is old enough to stand on her own feet now,bye' then hanged up on Carl by this time he was very annoyed with her parents attitude.

Chas- 'No wonder she does not speak about them at all no wonder that she is bringing up Ashlee.'

Doctor- 'After the operations that went well Scarlett is in a serious condition we have stopped the bleeding mum & baby are stable but critical at the moment but she may need to have an emergency caesarian if the baby gets in trouble or she may have to deliver her naturally'

Matt- 'What do you mean her? ' looking very slightly relieved still holding Carl's hand.


Doctor- 'We did some tests which showed the baby is a girl.I am afraid that there were two but one had died much earlier on in the preganancy.'


Matthew - 'Oh my god..my Scar'wiping the tears away from his face.

Abi had just come on duty popped down to see her best friend and that Matthew told her that he could not face her incase she was not the same the girl before the crash.Abi managed to talk him round they went into the room together.

At last he could go & see his beloved girlfriend she was alseep after her operations.Poor Scarlett she was very badly bruised & battered from the crash.Her pelvis was very badly damaged along with a few ribs broken.Her spine was twisted.
He touched her stomach trying to see if he could feel the baby inside then all of a sudden he felt some thing move. He held Scarlett's hand even tighter than before stroking it slowly like he had before in the way that she liked.

As Scarlett got better she wanted to leave the hospital but the doctors refused to let her leave.

He vowed revenge on anyone who caused the crash.

In the meanwhile Jimmy took a call from the police who caught the driver of the van but they would not reveal who it was the officer had also said that Scarlett's car had been tampered with some one had also cut the break wires.


It turns out that the finger prints from Scarlett's car belong the one & only Miguel Sadie's Spanish toyboy as he has already had form for this type of thing as he was easily lead by Sadie & did everything that she said.He told the police all about Sadie's plan to get rid of her arch enemy.
Sadie was also arrested and was charged with attempted murder.

Poor Scarlett went into labour but after 10 hours the baby still had not come into the world the doctors eventually checked her after nine hours only to find out that the baby was being strangled by the placenta and she was in deep trouble unfortunately the baby was still born as there was nothing that could off prevented this.
The couple were not prepared for this and understandably devastated that their little girl had died.They just could not believe it that after all that they had been through this happens aswell.

They sat down on Scarlett's bed crying trying to comfort each other finally they held their little angel in their arms.


Who they decided together to name her Sophia Louisa Mary King.

Scarlett - 'she is perfect but why did it have to happen to us ? '

Matt- ' I don't know I just wished I know babe' still upset from their loss.' she looks as beautiful as her mum' he said looking into his girlfriend's sad face while holding his daughter.

Scarlett- 'She looks like her wonderful daddy too' she replied looking back at her man.

They spend the rest of the night laying on Scarlett's bed just being there for each other while sobbing and talking trying to work out what went so wrong.

Matthew hated to see the woman who he truly loved in all this pain and heartbreak especially when she thought it was her fault & she was being punished for something.

Scarlett- ' I don't blame you if you hate me as I have messed everything up for us'.

Matt- 'Off course I do not hate you how could I? I love and adore you so much look at me babe don't ever think that this was your fault' he said reassuring his partner looking deep into her eyes then kissing her on the head.

Scarlett- 'I will understand if you want to go out to find yourself another woman who can give you children as you probably do not want to be stuck with us' she quietly replied back.

Matt - ' Oh babes do not be silly I love you both dearly I think of Ashlee as my own like you do ' he said putting her face into his hands while looking at her.

Both had tears streaming down their faces.

The rest of the weeks seemed like a blur until Scarlett come out of hospital they decided to move into Home Farm with the rest of the family so they could help out with Ashlee like looking after her when they were working etc.

Rosemary had always treated Scarlett like a daughter that she never had which did annoy Matthew as they never got on. Really Rosemary was always hoping that her beloved son Grayson would fall in love with her so perhaps one day they could have children together.But everyone could see how much Matthew & Scarlett were very much in love & they suited each other anyway but Grayson said that he is not interested in her like that on numerous occasions but she thought that mummy knew best for her son.

Infact if any one has a soft spot for Scarlett is is Carl who took a liking to her ever since he saw her but he has never done anything about it. He knew it was wrong but he could not help it.

It was little Sophia-Louisa Mary King's funeral she was buried alongside Tom,Mary & Max's graves.It was a very sad occasion.Scarlett was unconsolable as her side of the family were not around so it was the King family to care & look after her along with her friends.Matthew was her tower of strength as he held her in his arms trying to wipe away her tears that were streaming constantly down her pale face.
The funeral had finished & most people headed back to home farm for a small wake for friends & family only.The couple decided to stay at the grave for a while looking briefly through the flower cards.Scarlett's whole body ached for her dead daughter since the accident Scarlett blamed herself for the death of their baby even though deep down she knew that she wasnt to blame this was all down to Sadie King Matthew's ex lover due to her being jealous.
Matthew placed a small teddy bear onto the top of the grave alongside some flowers before telling his daughter that ''we all love you Sophia always especially your mummy & daddy'' while looking at the grave then each other.
Scarlett looked at Matt half smiled at him then wiped the tears away from his cheeks before picking up his hand placing it into her hand before kissing it tenderly.
''Shall we go now ?'' he said looking at her
They headed back to Home Farm they tried to sneak into the house unnoticed but they got spotted by Jimmy,Kelly & some others they were unsure about going into the wake.

Chas held Scarlett's hand then quietly said '' It's ok sweetie we are all here ''
Scarlett '' I know & we do really appricate it thank you '' with tears running down her face.
Carl came over & gave Scarlett a big cuddle when he cuddled her she felt proctected it felt different being hugged by Carl than it did Matthew or Jimmy etc but there had always been something between Scarlett & Carl like an sort of sexual chemistry that sparked between them.
Chas gave Matt a short hug & kissed him on the cheek. They all walked in together Scarlett looked around for her family but she only had her friends around her as her parents had not bothered yet again to come even Abi's parents came from South Africa as they thought of Scarlett as a daughter & Ashlee as a granddaughter. From that day on she decided to cut her family out of her life yet again.

A few weeks later Chas suggested to Lottie about having a tattoo for Sophia-Louisa memory '' What a great idea Chas thank you sweetie'' Lottie replied smiling sweetly to one of her best friends Chas '' Glad you like it babe'' Chas replied both relaxing on the sofa waiting for the boys to come back from popping back from the office.
'' Hey ya babes'' called Matthew walking in the front door with his two brothers Ashlee went running up to the man she classed as her dad but she called him dad as he was the only dad that she knew. ''Hey Ash look what I have got for you babe '' showing the dolls house to her that Carl & Jimmy were carrying into the lounge. Matt picked her up & cuddled her
'' I love it thank you '' she giggled ''Oh wow that is lovely Matt you should not spoil her '' Scarlett said after kissing Matt when he sat down on the sofa next to her.
They all watched Ashlee play with her new dolls house.
'' So what have you two girls been talking about ?'' Jimmy asked the girls.
''Just womens bits well it is for us to know...'' Chas cheeky replied while Lottie just laughed
'' You two are terrible when you get together'' Matt said.
Then Lottie said '' Well Chas has told me of a nice way to remeber Sophia-Louisa hon'' she turned round to Matt facing him ''how about getting a tattoo ? I mean it does not have to be a big one '' she said stroking his hand.
'' Yes why not babe yes that would be different'' Matt replied ''Thank you Chas''.
Matt & Chas did not always get on because Matthew thought that she was just another tart that was only with Carl to see if she could get her hands on the family money but he has changed his opinion of her has changed espcially as she has been really supportive to Lottie recently.
Off course Carl did not mind as it meant that he could get near Lottie more.
