RUGBY World Cup-winning skipper Martin Johnson and Emmerdale star Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard, have been named as guests in the Leicestershire side for Paul Nixon’s benefit game at Keswick on Sunday.
England’s Cumbrian wicket-keeper will also include World Cup fast bowlers Charl Langevelt, from South Africa, and England’s Stuart Broad as well as Dave Crellin, aka Emmerdale’s Billy Hopwood for the Twenty20 game.
They take on a Cumbria XI (2.30 pm start) featuring several other Emmerdale actors in a team of local club professionals and top young home-grown players led by Surrey veteran Graham Monkhouse, who is from Nixon’s home village of Langwathby.
The family fun day at Fitz Park will also include a football match featuring more Emmerdale stars and some Carlisle United players (11am kick off).
Johnson will be speaking at a sold-out black tie dinner in a marquee on Saturday night and at a Sunday lunch.
There will also be visit from the Great North Air Ambulance, which is receiving a slice of the proceeds along with Leukaemia Research - Emmerdale’s charity.
