From the Castleford and Pontefract Express.
Thanks SouthernBelle.
EMMERDALE soap stars will knock Ackworth folk for six to try to improve sport in the village. The annual cricket match between West Yorkshire Police’s top cops and the ITV show’s cast and crew will help boost the coffers of Ackworth Community Development – an organisation that aims to boost sporting facilities for villagers.
Actor Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard, is already signed up to bat on the day at Ackworth Cricket Club’s Doncaster Road ground.
Organiser John Atha said: “This is about the ninth year we’ve held the match and it’s always great, up to 400 people attend.
“The actors and crew are all fantastic and every penny we raise will go towards new changing rooms for Ackworth’s youngsters.
“Entry is free, although there will be a collection, and we would gladly welcome any donations of raffle or auction prizes.
The event – also including a disco, raffle and charity auction – takes place from noon on Sunday September 2.
For more details, or to donate a raffle prize, email John Atha on jatha@tiscali.co.uk.

Looking forward to the photos. I was at the footy, it was great. All the soap stars were so willing to sign autographs and have photos taken it was a real treat.
