It's the week after Carl had found out about Lexi betraying him.

In the cafe:

Carl was sat nursing a cup of coffee, when Chas walked in.

Chas: What's up with you? You look like you've lost a pound and found a penny

Carl: Haven't you heard? You were right

Chas: Course I was, I always am (with a smile on her face), right about what?

Carl: Matt and Lexi

Chas: I'm sorry, I really am, what ever's happened between us, I still care about you, I don't want to see you hurt, I really don't

Carl: (forcing a smile) Thanks, I better go, we've got alot on at Holdgate and Donalds away for the next fortnight

Chas: Bye then (as she ordered two coffees, off Jamie, just as Paddy walked in)

Paddy: You alright

Chas: Yeah, (lost in thought) there's something I want to ask you

This is my first fan-fic, what do you all think?

At Holdgate farm:

Carl was under a mountain of paperwork, when Chas walked in.

Chas: Hi

Carl: (looking up and quite bemused) What you doing here?

Chas: I've come to help, I've spoken to Paddy, the vets is pretty quiet at the moment, so I can combine working here with the vets

Carl: Why would you want to do that? I'm grateful, but, why?

Chas: Speaking to you earlier in the cafe you sounded stressed and like I said I still care and with Lexi gone and Donald away, you sounded like you needed some help, so here I am

Carl: You sure?

Chas: Yes, now what do you want me to do (as she scanned Carls desk, not waiting for a answer), I'll start by making headway with this paperwork and get it in some sort of order

Carl: Thanks
