By Annette McIntyre
TELEVISION and sporting stars are lining up to battle it out in a one-day celebrity cricket match.
The event, at Woodhouse Grove School, Apperley Bridge, on Sunday July 13, will raise money to help disadvantaged children and local primary school children to enjoy cricket and other sports.
The former cricketing stars include Ashley Metcalfe, Richard Blakey, Dave Smith, Arnie Sidebottom and Alan Igglesden, and BBC sports commentator Guy Mowbray will team up with Emmerdale stars Chris Chittell, Matthew Wolfenden, Lorraine Chase and Tom Lister, Casualty cast member Charlie Dale, Rob Duncan from Drop the Dead Donkey, former Emmerdale star, Frazer Hines, current Bradford City Manager, Stuart McCall and his Assistant Manager Wayne Jacobs, former Bradford City players Ian Ormondroyd and David Weatherall and former Sheffield United Manager Steven Thomson, in battle for supremacy on the field.
The match will be umpired by the legendary Nottinghamshire player Basher Hassan.
Also showing their support for the occasion will be cricket legends Brian Close and Ray Illingworth, David Byas and Jim Love, and Look North Presenter, Christa Ackroyd.
The proceeds from the match will go to the Lord's Taverners charity which helps young people, particularly those with social, environmental, physical or learning disadvantages, to enjoy cricket and other sporting activities.
