STARS of television soap Emmerdale will return to a picturesque Dales village, hoping to raised thousands of pounds in an annual charity cricket match.
Actors from the popular ITV show will play against a team from Crakehall, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, to help raise money for Leukaemia UK The match, which will take place at noon on Sunday, August 3, on the village green, will be the fourth between the teams.
It is expected that the team will be captained by Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard in the show, and will include a handful of past and present cast members.
In previous years, it has attracted large crowds of Emmerdale fans, keen to meet some of the stars.
Members of Crakehall Cricket Club hope to beat last year's total of £3,000.
Colin Poole, Crakehall's vice-chairman and strike bowler, said: "The day is great fun for all involved, and as well as the cricket match there will be a raffle and a range of stalls and refreshments on offer.
"At the end of the game, we will be conducting a charity auction, with this years lots including a fabulous driving experience day at Croft, a Chelsea training top and photo signed by Ashley Cole, and a cricket bat signed by the Australian test star Mike Hussey.
"The real purpose of the day is to raise as much money as possible for charity, and we are grateful to the actors at Emmerdale who give up their own time to get involved in the day."
