Tim Vincent is perhaps best known for his slick presenting skills in shows such as Blue Peter, Miss World and I'm Famous and Frightened.
But the handsome star, who once set pulses racing in ITV1 soap Emmerdale, has ruled out a return to acting - for now.
His comments came during an interview in which he discussed the long-running children's show's 50th anniversary, and he says: "One journalist called me 'the Swiss army knife of presenters', and I think that's pretty true. I did various acting jobs - Dangerfield, and Emmerdale for a year, but it does muddy the water.
"People think you're acting and not presenting, so the presenting jobs are harder to come by."
Looking back on his time with Blue Peter, Vincent enthuses: "I still remember walking across the pedestrian crossing at the BBC and being on such a high, as it was such a great thing to aim for."
But he also goes on to reveal how much of a gamble he was. "For me, I'd hardly presented at all, so they took a huge risk in offering me the job as I was untrained and untested," he says.
"It worked so well. The training I got on that job will be there forever. I did three years on the show, deferred my university degree and treated Blue Peter as my university course. It's still paying me back now."
So, what about the chances of Vincent getting back into acting? He says: "After Emmerdale, I did a six-month tour with a John Godber play and was asked to do another tour almost immediately afterward.
"I turned it down, because I thought if I do that, that's very much a road I'm going down as an actor. Since then I've turned down a few others - not that I wouldn't do the right job if it came along, especially now I'm living mostly in London, but presenting is my main strength."
The documentary Blue Peter at 50 airs on Saturday, October 11, while a special edition of the magazine show hits the airwaves on Thursday, October 16.
