EPISODE 7
At the Dingle household, Chas is in tears explaining everything to Zak and Lisa.
CHAS: I just can't believe how stupid I've been! I should've never listened to Louise, she's poison! And now Denzel doesn't want to know me, it's all because of that cow! LISA: Oh love, I do understand. Are you sure you can't give Denzel one more try, see if he'll listen? ZAK: Do you want me and our Cain to go and have a word? CHAS: No! It's no use, he won't listen. I'll just have to move on... though now I've got no job so I'm in an even worse position! LISA: Was it really that bad with Louise? ZAK: Oh aye, she near ripped her head off! CHAS: I'm not proud of myself but she deserved it!
Meanwhile, over at the Woolpack, tensions are running high.
TERRY: You can't let her get away with that! LOUISE: What like you getting beat up by Matthew's heavies?! TERRY: Oh don't start that again! LOUISE: Chas is a psycho, the whole family are! Getting the police involved could make things worse, just like with the Kings. I'm gonna post her P45 in the morning and if she thinks she's getting paid for this week she can think again! TERRY: I'm not happy with this at all. Look at the state of you! Chas needs to be punished for this, go to the police! LOUISE: It's just a cut! I'm OK.
Louise has a slight gash across her cheek where Chas has scratched her and has bruising to her neck.
TERRY: If you let her get away with it she'll just keep doing it, she's hit you once before remember? Go to the police and report it, or I will. LOUISE: Right OK, if you insist! Let's go now and get it over with, then we can try and put all this behind us. I wish I'd never opened my mouth about Denzel. I can't understand why she went for me, has he told her I'm lying?! TERRY: Well if there's anything to be learnt by all of this it's to keep out of other people's business. I can't be doing with all this fighting and upset, we might as well give in to Matthew and let him take the B&B after all... right I'll get my coat.
Louise tries to comfort Terry with a smile, though he looks genuinely defeated.
Over at Paddy and Emily's, Emily is sitting on the sofa with her head in her hands. Paddy has just returned from upstairs.
EMILY: It's no use Paddy! I can't find it. PADDY: Me either, are you sure you brought it with you when you moved in here? EMILY: No! PADDY: Emily!? You know what this means - no holiday! EMILY: I know and I'm sorry! I was really looking forward to it, but I want you to go still. PADDY: What?! I can't go without you! We'll go on our own holiday, somewhere in this country. EMILY: No it's all booked now! We're already wasting money on one ticket, we don't want to waste two. Please Paddy, go and have a good time. I'll be OK here! It'll save Mrs. Windsor hiring someone to look after the shop anyway. PADDY: But Donna and Marlon will be all over each other, what are me and Viv meant to do? EMILY: I'm sure you'll all get along just fine, Mrs. Windsor and Donna will be shopping all day so you and Marlon can do your own thing! PADDY: Are you sure you can't get another passport? EMILY: No, if I could then I would but I can't! PADDY (sighing): Right well if it makes you happy I'll go but don't expect me to be best friends with Viv when I get back! EMILY: Oh you'll have a great time! Please send me a postcard.
Emily starts to cry softly, so Paddy comforts her though looking anxious himself.
Matthew and Tom are having a discussion in the living room at Holdgate Farm, Matthew holds some documents whilst Tom sips a whiskey.
MATTHEW: So this is the proposal. You said to get some figures together and here they are. TOM: The B&B eh? Do you want to keep the business going or turn it into property? MATTHEW: Well I thought about both but what I've decided is to stick with a bed and breakfast for the timebeing and see how much profit we make. If it's enough to warrant a success then I'll start looking at other angles, perhaps make it an upmarket hotel. TOM: And what if it doesn't work out? MATTHEW: Easy - convert it into apartments or offices and make double my money back. TOM: Well these figures all look quite promising. No wonder Terry doesn't want to let go of it. MATTHEW: I'm not worrying about him, there's nothing he can do. Alan wants to sell to me and with your say so, he will. So what do you think? I need your capital dad, you won't be let down. TOM: Right, I'm in. I reckon you'll make a success of this, and at such a good price we couldn't lose money on it if we tried! MATTHEW: Good, now put your signature there and in a couple of days we'll be official owners of the B&B.
Later on, over at the Dingle's, everyone is getting ready to go to bed. Lisa is clearing away some dishes with Chas while Zak and Cain finish a game of cards. Suddenly, Shadrach bursts through the door.
SHADRACH: Eh, our Chastity, I've just seen that copper of yours coming up the drive! CHAS: Denzel?! Are you sure?! LISA: What were you doing outside Shadrach? SHADRACH: Well Debbie was in the loo and I couldn't wait forever! ZAK: Urghhh you dirty mongrel! You can hose that wall down tomorrow! CHAS: Never mind that, did you say Denzel was here?!
Chas runs to the door and opens it, to be greeted with Denzel, accompanied by a female officer.
CHAS: Denzel?! I thought... what's this about? DENZEL: This isn't a social call Miss Dingle. Can we come in?
Chas steps back, seemingly surprised, while Lisa, Cain, Zak and Shadrach all peer at Denzel and his fellow officer as they walk in.
ZAK: To what do we owe this pleasure? You better not be here to cause more trouble for our Chastity! DENZEL: I'm afraid it's actually Miss Dingle that's been the causing the trouble. Chastity Dingle, I'm arresting you for assault, you do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned, something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say will be given in evidence. Put her in the car please, PC Smith.
The female officer leads a stunned Chas away, while Denzel looks knowingly at the Dingles and follows her out of the door.
CHAS: Uncle Zak! Cain! Lisa! Help me!
Zak and Cain rush to the door but Lisa stops them.
LISA: Don't! You'll make it worse! This is something she has to sort out on her own OK?
Chas has tears running down her cheeks as she is bundled into the police car. She catches a glimpse of Denzel through the driver's mirror, but he shows no emotion. The police car is driven away with the Dingles looking on.
In Episode 8, someone gives up hope and there's a horrifying prospect for one holidaymaker.

EPISODE 8
Chas sits in a lonely police sell, wiping her eyes with her sleeves, mascara streaked down her face. The hatch of the cell door opens and a female officer peers through.
OFFICER: Here's your breakfast. CHAS: I don't want any. OFFICER: Suit yourself.
The hatch is slammed shut and Chas curls up in a ball on the bed, sobbing softly.
Meanwhile, there's a loud knock at the door of Paddy and Emily's house. Emily answers it and is greeted with an excited looking Viv.
VIV: Morning! Can I come in? EMILY: Mrs Windsor! Yes, come in, I need to speak to you actually. VIV: Oh? I hope it's holiday preparations! EMILY: Well, no actually... I've got a bit of bad news. VIV: What is it?! EMILY: I can't go, I've lost my passport! VIV: You're joking?! You can't leave me! EMILY: Well Paddy's still going and Marlon and Donna! It'll be fine! I really wish I was going but it's too late, I can't get another passport at this short notice. VIV: Oh Emily! I'm disappointed now! I was just coming round to show you the rooms.
Paddy emerges from the kitchen.
EMILY: I've just given Mrs Windsor the news. VIV: Yes, awful isn't it! You're still going though? PADDY: Well, I can't let Marlon down. VIV: Quite... it's just, there's a bit of a problem now. Well, when I say problem, I've got no objections but you might not be comfortable with it! PADDY: Why what's up? VIV: Well because Emily's not going, it means that you and I are going to have to share a room... they can't offer two singles, the hotel is in very high demand! PADDY: Oh great, this just gets better. EMILY: Paddy, don't be so rude! Mrs Windsor has put a lot of effort into this. I'm sure that'll be fine, won't it Paddy? PADDY: Yeah yeah whatever... VIV: Oh well I'm glad that's sorted! Oh Emily, I still wish you were coming, are you sure there's no way?! EMILY: I've tried everything, it just wasn't meant to be! Oh well, it means I can look after the shop for you anyway. VIV: Every cloud has a silver lining eh? Anyway, I'd best get back - thanks for being so understanding Paddy, I promise you I'll be the perfect room mate!
Paddy gives Viv a sarcastic smile as she leaves.
PADDY (to Emily): This is going to be an absolute nightmare.
Over in the village, Louise and Terry are collecting a delivery outside the Woolpack when Zak and Cain approach.
ZAK: Our Chas was arrested last night. Assault. LOUISE: She was? Well... good! ZAK: Hang on a minute, surely you could've sorted this out without getting cops involved? TERRY: Come on Zak, this isn't the first time Chas has been violent is it? LOUISE: She gave me a black eye last year, and this was just the icing on the cake. Sorry but she needs teaching a lesson. ZAK: She's in bits over that Denzel! It's the last thing she needs. LOUISE (pointing at face): And you think I need this?! CAIN: Well it were you who put the boot in and gave Chas the story about Denzel's "other woman". LOUISE: I was trying to help! I've learnt my lesson now though!
Louise stomps inside the Woolpack, Terry looking on concerned.
TERRY: Look, I can see how you feel but Louise was reluctant to go to the police you know? If this doesn't sort Chas out, well I don't know what will. It was just a misunderstanding that got out of hand - nothing to do with us anymore, so lay off her yeah?
Terry follows Louise into the Woolpack, but on his way up the steps he sees Matthew and Tom King standing on Betty's doorstep. The door opens and Alan greets them inside. Terry sighs and enters the pub.
Sorry it was short, expect a longer one in the week!
In Episode 9, Chas gets some good news and the holiday makers are ready for the off!

I'm also thinking of doing a tiny "spoiler" at the end of each episode for example; Things go from bad to worse for Paddy and Emily.As readers, do you want these or would you prefer each episode to be a surprise? No, it is always good to do a little spoiler, that 'wets' the readers appetite for more.
