That was really good - all the simple smiling got Carl off to a tee.
Viv and the false smiling was great too as was Jimmy running after Sadie (which he most certainly would at the time this story was set).

Very minor (hopefully constructive) criticisms - Not sure Matthew would tell Charity that Sadie hated Ella though, perhaps a smug smile as a stage direction (though I think that's compulsory anyway) and does Tom call people "Pet"?

I think the Emmerdale producers should be on the phone hiring you as a writer pdq. You obviously have a real talent and have got most of those characters off to absolute perfection.

for whatever reason I love writing for Carl! I just find him a character I can see - there's some stuff later that I really enjoyed writing
