She lay crying on the bed, it had all gone so wrong! Tears streamed down her face as she realised how this would all turn out. she knew it wasnt his, it couldnt be his and if it was his she was sure he would never see him again. He'd left her in the learch nothing just a car!. She'd never felt this feeling before, sickness, being tired but she realated it to all the stress. Bingo they would get her for everything soon and how was she going to cope with it in prision.
The hostel was cold and wet. When she first arrived she'd dyed her hair from the glossy blonde to a dull brown and the expensive clothes soon sold just so she could make a living. The car also sold just so she would have food to eat.
Crying she picked up the positive pregnancy test and through it in the bin hoping that would make the problem disappear.
She looked in the mirror, lifting up her baggy grey jumper
it was so oblious but she just kept a blind eye to it
A Large baby bump, she new it had to be matthews, god how she missed him and loved him

He was buzy clearing out home farm. It needed doing, start afresh for all of them. It had took him a week but finally he came to the attic. He opened the hatch and a cloud of dust appeared before his eyes. He knew this would be the longest part of the job. He moved a few things asside and started in the left corner. The fisrt box he came to said "matts" , he couldnt remeber this box?
He opened the dusty box and was greeted by several picture albums, a few smaller boxes and a diary. He opened the diary, something fell out
A picture of a young girl, long blonde hair, tanned and smiling and next to her stood him, turing over the photo he read " me and sadie, ! 16 years old 1985!
Matthew dropped the diary and the photo, he know realised whyy he had pushed it away and never wanted to open it again!
that year brought back bad memories, they were only young and only them knew about their secret relationship. They had only been together 6 months but he new it wouldnt be right to tell anyone! It was all so hard turning 16 and finding out you were to become a dad

Sadie looked down at the bump 21 years later she couldnt believe it was all happening again. She couldnt have had any kids with jimmy because it brought back those feelings.
She thought back to summer 1985, 3 months pregnant when her and matt found out, both just out of school, they knew nobody would have to know until the day she gave birth but that day was cruly snatched away.
Her tears started to flow more, She remebered that night staying at matts when nobody was in apart from her and him. Talking about what it would be like to become a mummy and a daddy, they were young but it would all get better when it was born.
Two families would hopefully feud no more!
She remebered going to the toilet and all this blood, she didnt know what to do. She called matt who rushed up the stairs and found the horrific scene. They both collapsed to tears, that much blood they knew they had lost it. Matt called his mate Ian who was in the year above and had a car to take them to the hospital and it was their they found out they had lost thier little boy, Alex

Matt picked up his diary and continued to look at it. He found the 12 week scan photo, a tiny blob which he could never make out until Now. He also felt upset and sick when thinking about that night she had lost it. He really knew then that he couldnt put saide through anymore so he left her. He knew all along that it was him who changed sadie into the cold hearted bitch. Leaving her at her most exposed, where she could not tell anymore and had to keep her emotions bottled up. So thats why she got with jimmy so she could be closer to matthew, she needed him to be their, as she had confessed to matt a few years later. So durning the 15 years of jimmy and sadie's marrige, they carried on the affair. He knew he loved her and would have given anything to be with her but it was all to complicated

Now 21 years later they didnt even speak never mind have a secret realtionship.
Sadie covered back up the baby bump, she had rung the doctors and they had an apointment straight away. She looked at that familiar blob on the screen it looked like its brother, the image still fresh in her head 21 years later. The doctor said she was around 5/6 months concieved in the june/july this year(2006) and did she want to know the sex?
Sadie thought, her softer side starting to show once again.
What would happen if it was a boy? This baby must be matt's its going to be history repeating its self
"Ok" Wearly replying
"It's a baby boy"

Matt continued to look through the box. It was all photos of him and sadie. The smaller boxes containing things they both owned at 16, sadie's copy of the breakfast club lay at the bottom of the box and matt's rolling stones t-shirt crumpled beside it, the one sadie used to wear. Matt really didnt like her now but he could never hate her because a large part of him still loved her and would give anything to be with. Matt wanted to keep this box, he never wanted to through it out. It made him wonder what was she like now??
He came to the last box inside and opened it, it was a box they had made for the baby. In it were a pair of cream baby botties and a baby grow. Matt had wrote a letter about sadie and placed a ring in it promisng he would marry sadie soon as their baby was born and sadie had placed, two cuff links inside the box for matt to wear on thier wedding day. She had also wrote him a letter reading
"Matt you mean more than the world to me and it was hard for us both finding out at 16 we were to be parents but i love you and i know this will never change. But promsie you will never leave cause i wont be the same person!"
He knew the last bit was the trueist thing he had ever read. His disliking for sadie, slowly disolved and he knew he had to see her just to make scense of these feelings. He knew it was him that changed her and their was nobody else to blame. He really did wonder how she had coped after cain left and loosing all that money as by now it was common knowledge

She left skipton doctors surgery and wandered to the local cafe. She didnt order anything, money was tight! how was she going to afford all this , she thought realisticly how was this going to be possible. She couldnt contact the council because they would give her staright up to the police, she would have to stay in the hostal, but it wasnt the place you brought a baby up in. She was sure this baby wasnt what she wanted but it was to late for the other alternative. She couldnt claim benifits or anything and the money she was using about to run out. She wished that she hadnt been such an utter cow and messed up her own life. Their was one place she had to go, he wouldnt talk to her but she needed to be their. He wouldnt be the answer but it would give her thinking time.

Matt stood over the empty grave,it was only a plaque nothing lying underneath. It was a private little cematary a couple of miles out of yorkshire. He read the grave sign
"Alexander Matthew King Loved Forvever By Mummy And Daddy"
The baby would have been coming up 21 now and how diffrent this could have been. The baby was to early to burry so they put up a plaque instead only them two knowing where it was.
Sadie after travelling for a hour on the bus came to the cemetary gates. That was the first time she felt the baby kick she must be doing something right.
She looked over at the wall and stood infront of it was matthew. This wasnt arranged but she knew this would be the best thing that could have happened. Matt looked behind him, a brunette pregant woman approching the wall. He supposed to she had lost a loved one and was coming to look at the wall.
Sadie walked toward's the wall. She stood a good meter to the side of matthew and appeared to never take eyes off the wall. He looked at her medium brown hair, heavily pregant although she looked in good need of a meal. He looked at her baggy jeans that used to have fitted her and her baggy grey jumper that swamped her. She sneakly looked at him, still as sexy as ever. His dark hair and his smart appearence, she knew far to well that she would never lose her feelings for him.
He thought aloud but wanted the lady to hear him, hoping for a few words of comfort and that would ease the guilt
"It would be my sons birthday soon but he died before i could meet him, i wish this could have turned out all so diffrent"
Sadie burst into tears and fell to the floor
Matt turned round to the thud, her brown hear cleared from her face, he really did recognise that face! She looked up right into his eyes
"It would be mine's To" she replyed
He new who it was, it was sadie!

Neither knew what to say.
He hepled her up and they both stood staring at the wall
Finally the scilence was broken, Matt with no other question asked "so who's baby is that"
Sadie tried to reply but couldnt, she looked at him and just uttered "pardon?"
"Sadie its a simple question who's baby is that"
She looked at him, she had to tell him "Yours"
With that she turned and walked away back to the seat near the gates
"Sadie wait, we need to talk!"
She looked at him running towards her
they started to talk, talking about what happend and how this all happened. He knew she'd changed and she knew he would be their to listen. Matt knew this would be hard but he had to say it
"sadie i know ive messed up your life and this has all been my fault but you look as if you need help, i want to be thier for my baby and not leave you alone this time". he couldnt belive he was lettng het back into his life!
She replied" Matt i need you to do this one thing, take the baby when its born but leave me"

"Ive caused you enough pain, i used to be an utter bitch and i have changed but who is going to belive that, all i will cause you is agrovation. i want our baby to have the best life it can but why do i deserve it"
Matt knew sadie had lost her selfish ways and now became selfless. He fell inlove with her when she was like this and it reminded him of the sadie campbell he had met 22 years ago.
Matt knew know he needed her and this was his last chance.
He lent into her and slowly kissed her, a long lingering kiss
"Sadie you deserve the best, i know you have changed and im accepting you for that. Sadie i need you, you done horrible hatefull things but that will never change how much i love you. I need you and our baby. The guilt of when we were 16 is killing me, i need to prove myself wrong and make it right!
She lent back in and kissed him again. Her bump snuggled into stomach, they both felt the baby kick

It was much like that thursday they found out they were going to parents 21 years ago. They walked hand and hand, out for a walk, talking about just general things.
Walking now they found themselves wondering about what would have happened if their first baby had of suvived, sadie was sure she would have been dealing with a smooth talking ladies man much like his dad but matt was sure he would have been academic and stuck in. On the walk the didnt really talk, sadie was just gratefull for what matt had just promised her but she was still weary of it all. Matt couldnt believe it all he was sure alex wanted his mum and dad to get back together and the baby was a gift from him. Both of them nt sure of what to say to each other. They just walked on hand in hand:
"Sadie you look rather beautiful with brown hair"
Sadie giggled
"Matt I Rather Like It Aswell, so fill Me in on the details about home farm and emmerdale?
"Well carls all shacked up with baraclough, remeber her the copper? and jimmy is just jimmy"
That made sadie laugh
"Ohh sexy baraclough as you used to call her!"
matt went slightly read and confessed
"well i tell carl i hate her and all that but hmm"

Sadie smilied such a large relief, it was utter councidence that she had met matt and it was all going swimmingly. far to good to be true.
The last bit, Hadnt just happened. she'd fell to the floor and banged her head, matt still didnt know who she was it was all a happy dream
Sadie woke, a comfy mattress underneath her and an unfamiliar setting. Matt had drove the mistery woman to the hospital and their he was about to find out about it all.

Sadie lay in the hospital bed, she knew that some part of him still loved her but it wasn't going to be easy to tell him. things had happened both had changed so what now.
Matthew stayed in the waiting room, the young vulnerable girl he thought, what a life! from her appearance he gathered that she most probably lived on the streets or in some shelter, that she was undernourished and probably was just left on her own to cope. "the dad, hes an absolute idiot for leaving her like this, no money no nothing and shes on her own" Matthew felt hatred for the dad building inside him, he missed out on that opportunity so many years ago so people should be lucky to have a child, he thought. Then he wondered why he felt so connected to the woman, why he felt like he'd known her for years and that so much of him wanted to protect her.

sadie thought oh gosh this couldnt be happening again, she couldnt lose another one. it would break her
The Doctor added" do you not have any relatives you could stay with, a place where you will you will be getting meals, warm baths and warmth, instead of being in your place of residence at the moment "therrepsun hostle"? Mabye you could contact the dad? at least with you being somewhere stable you and your babys health may inprove?"
Sadie couldnt face loosing another one, and if her baby was going to get better, she had to tell him
"can you send the man from the waiting room in please"

Matthew pulled the curtain back round when he stepped in to the room, he had bought her some water, sweets and flowers from the hospital shop.
"have these they might cheer you up!" handing her the flowers
"thank you" sadie replyed
"oh i havnt even introduced myself i was about to when you collapsed well, im matthew king, you've probably heard the last name in a negative sentence"
sadie laughed, he still had all of his charm and nothing had changed
"so whats your name then, ive started the conversation, you carry on" matthew asked
"..look..erm..well.."
"its ok you know you probably dont want to know me now, just greatful for my help but ill be off but if your passing emmerdale let me know how your doing" matthew said falsly, he really wanted to help her
"look matthew please sit down theres something you really need to know!"
matthews face looked worried
"ermm..well..look.. just open the file on that table and you will see"
matthew reached the blue nhs paitent file at the end of her bed
and opened it
"sadie j campbell" he read out loud
"matthew im sorry, i need your help, this is our baby, just look at the dates!"
matthew just sat shocked, the word sadie and our baby kept rolling around his head.
"matthew ive got nothing, ive only got these clothes that im in, ive got 6 pence in my purse, me and our baby havnt ate for 2 days, i live in a hostel, i havnt got anything for our baby, please matt i love you, help us"
Matthew burst into tears, an hour before he was slating the dad and now he was, the dad!
he walked over to her and put his arms round her
"sadie we've been given a second chance at being a parent, the baby needs his mum and dad! and i love you too, i always will, but i dont know how this is going to work!"

matt replied " well we've got jimmy in the house, with his girlfriend racheal and shes preganant, will you not find that orqward and secondly we've got dci barraclough and carl shacked up together and well not to point out the oblious but shes a copper and you might get done for what happend and Bloody dad(dec 2006) still lives with us"
saide knew everyword he said was right, she wouldnt be welcomed with open arms but this baby needed a life
"well im not sure" sadie replyed " i carnt even get away till the baby is born incase i get caught, matt in really in a mess"
"well if you silly girl hadnt got involed with cain we mightnt have this situation" matt carelessly added!
sadie looked hurt
"matt, just leave ive managed up until now, and i think prison looks better than being at your poxy house, where its just because your too ashamed to take me! Just leave please !"
"oh saide dont try to play inocent her, youve caused enough trouble and do what ever sadie but i dont care! that baby could be cain dingles for all i know"
"yeah matt thats right, leave me once again, alone this time with a baby though!"

Matt just broke down in tears!
"why do you think i was there today, theres not a day that goes by that i dont think about alex, and im not letting you go this time sadie, i want this baby soo much, im sorry! i know its mine look im really sorry"
sadie got out of bed and went to matt head in his hands on the chair. she lifted his head up and kissed him. the kiss was long meaningful and patsionate.
"look well manage he answered!"
the doctor came in a few mintues later and told the couple they could come and arranged more midwife appoinments for sadie to keep a progress check on the baby.
matt was pulling up to home farm and explained to sadie, that the current tennants that he was renting victoria cottage had just left so he would put her there for now. But first he needed a few things from home farm as he was going to stay with her tonight. He pulled her close in the car and they kissed
"sadie this is all going diffrent for us, ill make it work"
"love you"
Matt left the car and rushed into home farm
tom: matthew youve been gone allday where have you been?
carl: probably wining and dining another girl
jimmy: spill?
racheal: is that her waiting in the car?
grace: hotel booked just coming to get his tooth brush
Matt: Funny Really Funny!
Matt rushed upstairs quickly packed a bag and ran down stairs!
they were all gathered around the window
jimmy: pritty little brunette isnt she
tom: looks very young, no make up an all
grace: is that a baby bump?
racheal?: where? oh yes, do you think its matts
carl: hes got her up the duff quick moonlight weding will be on the cards i suspect
tom: no grandchild of mine will be left waiting outside
jimmy: do you mean invite her in?
racheal: we dont know rhat do we
matt: well ill see yous soon
tom: so is the baby yours ?
Matt: Yes its mine, so im leaving for a bit
jimmy: looks young just out of school, is she?
matt: jimmy get stuffed, im off!
with that matt ran out the door, tom was quick to follow, matt made it to the car and turned the engine back on about to drive away and tom reached the window, sadie so shocked turned and looked out of the window!
tom saw her and with that matt sped of!
tom walked back inside
and turned to all the others
"its sadie!"

sadie knew he had seen her, he knew he would shop her to barraclough, matt knew that too! he couldnt go back to victoria cottage to risky, so they had to go somewhere diffrent!
"sadie we've goto leave the area, just trust me when i take you to this place that im making the right decision!"
"ok but if they do catch up with us, youll promise to look after little one?"
"sadie promise! ill do anything for you thats why were going here!"
matt drove for hours, sadie fell asleep in the passanger seat, she was truley more beautiful with brown hair! he finally reached it!
looking round he knew it would be difficult, with all the memories and everything but it was the only place.
it was sadies mam and dads old house, since they had moved to spain it was sold to a local property developer, one of matts mates but money had ran dry and it was just left!
it was the only place that he thought no one would look for them in. Sam told him that the keys were in the plantpot and he could have it for a while

matthew woke saide up
"Darling Where Here!"
Sadie looked at the house infront of her,
"Matt we carnt go here, its got to many memories, i just carnt face it"
matthew held sadie tight and promised it would be
after entering, he looked around it was basiaclly furnished but not much, but it would do
the heating needed turning on but everything looked in working order
Sadie looked around and saw how terrible it was and burst into tears
"Typical sadie throwing a diva tamtrum but you know what i love you for it"
She laughed a thing she hadnt done in a while
"Come here, were all ok and everything will be fine"
matthew pulled sadie close and kissed her, both at that moment feeling their little son move!
