Ellesmere Port Pioneer <br>THE appropriately-named Charity Dingle is attending a gala night in Ellesmere Port in aid of a children's hospice. Actress Emma Atkins, who plays adulterous Charity in ITV soap Emmerdale, will be joined by another soap star, Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow in Coronation Street at the Butterfly Ball, at Ellesmere Port's Holiday Inn this Friday. Both actors are donating their time and energy to the sell-out event and are looking forward to hosting the night's auction. All proceeds will go to Claire House Children's Hospice in Bebington, which caters for poorly and terminally-ill youngsters. The hospice cares for about 150 children, has running costs of more than 1.3 million a year, yet receives no NHS or Government funding. Organiser Les Jewkes, an Ellesmere Port firefighter, said: 'On the night, the star quality will be mixed with the enthusiasm of the guests, who have all paid for their tickets in the knowledge that the money will go to Claire House. 'Friends and families of the children who use the hospice, and many of the volunteers, would gladly tell you of the amazing benefits that it gives to those who go there.'
