Soap star clash
BY ANDREW HUTCHINSON
SOAP stars at Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are set to clash at Elland Road this weekend for a charity football tournament.
The celebrities will don their boots for the Soccer Six tournament which kicks off on Sunday. They will be joined on the Leeds United turf by chart-topping groups Liberty X and Blazin Squad, as well as pop newcomers Phixx, Clea and VS.
The event, now in its 10th year, gives youngsters a chance to get close and personal to their favourite stars.
It also aims to raise thousands of pounds for the Princes' Trust and Give A Child A Chance charity.
The Emmerdale line up has already been confirmed and will include James Hooton (Sam Dingle), Anthony Lewis (Marc Reynolds), Kelvin Fletcher (Andy Sugden) and Glenn Lamont (Richie Carter).
They will be locking horns against a Hollyoaks team featuring Nick Pickard (Tony Hutchinson), Chris Fountain (Justin Burton) and Guy Burnet (Dan Hunter).
Emmerdale team captain is Ben Freeman who plays Scott Windsor in the soap.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "We are looking forward to battling it out at Elland Road this Sunday. It's great to be able to raise money for such good causes by doing something you love.
"The Emmerdale team play as often as we can for charity and when we were invited to play in this tournament to support The Prince's Trust and Give a Child a Chance, we couldn't turn down the opportunity."
He added: "Hopefully there will be a good crowd at the stadium to watch us win!"
Tickets for the Leeds event can be bought from the Soccer Six ticket hotline on 0870 100 0000.
