From the Buchan Observer
AN EMMERDALE star laid down her plans for a death-defying charity stunt as she visited Peterhead on Wednesday. Julia Mallam, the soap's Dawn Hope, will go wing-walking for leukaemia sufferers at the TV drama's annual Family Funday next month. About 20 members of the soap's cast will watch her brave deed at the one day event in Banchory. And Julie says her part in the Anthony Nolan Trust fundraiser will save her fighting off her colleagues for a spot at the popular fun day. Emmerdale has built up a real connection with the North-east in recent years, say the show's bosses. The first Family Funday was held at Ellon in 2001. Inverurie has also hosted the event. And now the soap stars are all very keen to be part of the upcoming festival. Last year the cast made £102,000 at the event in Banchory. They hope to top that this year by hitting £150,000. The event, also featuring a fun run and golf tournament, will be held in Inchmarlo Golf Centre, on Saturday June 5. Emmerdale stars will be at the event from 10.30am.
