From the Evening Telegraph
09:30 - 09 June 2004 High-flying action, family fun, stalls and activities will be the order of the day at the County Ground on Saturday.
There will be cricket as well, of course, but that is only one of the attractions of the Derbyshire CCC Carnival Open Day which will raise money for the children's charity, When You Wish Upon A Star.
Starting at 1pm and with free admission, mini-car rides, the ECB Roadshow, football games, cricket coaching, bouncy castles and face painting will be among the attractions.
All eyes will be on the skies for a spectacular start, when the Red Devils parachute display team drop in to deliver the match ball for a Bunburys v Derbyshire cricket match.
The game will start at 2pm and up against a Derbyshire team led by skipper Luke Sutton and including former players Rob Bailey and Tim Munton, as well as chief executive John Smedley, will be a Bunburys side of former sports stars and celebrities.
Among them will be England cricketers Wayne Larkins, David Lawrence and Chris Silverwood, Derbyshire coach David Houghton, ex-boxer Lloyd Honeyghan, TV presenters Nick Owen and Jamie Theakston and Emmerdale actor Chris Chittell.
All proceeds from the day will go to the county club's adopted charity, which is already assured of a large boost as John Smedley and Julie Cliff, from the club's commercial department, will present them with a cheque for £2,000 which they raised with a sponsored sky dive.
