EMMERDALE’S troubled chef Marlon Dingle will be cooking up a storm in Wigton next week.
He will be in town to re-launch the Kwik Save store on Wednesday after a refurbishment costing more than £1 million.
Shoppers will have the chance to question the ITV soap actor Mark Charnock about his character’s blossoming romance with Donna Windsor, following the death of on-screen wife Trisha.
He will take time to sign autographs for fans between 9am and 9.30am and have a look around the store to pick up a few ingredients.
Another star guest, Father Christmas, will be there between 10.30am and 4.30pm to hand out some early presents, while carol singers from surrounding churches will sing between 11.30am and noon while collecting for charity.
Wider aisles have been created at the supermarket and new products introduced as part of the revamp.
Manager Bob Fleming said the improvements were part of a national update of Kwik Save stores with each being redesigned to look like a market street.
Six new jobs have been created in Wigton with the re-launch of the store, which now employs 42 full and part-time staff.
Mr Fleming said customers were very impressed with the new-look store which had given the town a boost.
He added: “I am excited about meeting Marlon but I am quite glad he is not bringing the r
est of the family!”

SHOPPERS May Noble and Gleniece Haney were first in the queue to give Emmerdale’s troubled chef Marlon Dingle a peck on the cheek when he opened the newly refurbished Kwik Save store in Wigton.
The pensioners – who are fans of the ITV soap – were at the Station Road shop yesterday morning waiting for their hero to arrive.
Marlon, played by actor Mark Charnock, was in town to unveil improvements to the shop which has been redesigned to look like a market street.
The shop has undergone a £1 million refurbishment which has created six new jobs. It now employs 42 full and part-time staff.
Manager Bob Fleming welcomed Marlon to the store where he signed autographs for a crowd of fans.
Mr Fleming said wider aisles have been created at the supermarket and new products introduced as part of the revamp.
Another star guest, Father Christmas, was in the Wigton store yesterday to hand out some early presents, while carol singers from surrounding churches sang while collecting for charity.
Mr Fleming claimed customers were very impressed with the new-look store which had given the town a boost. In June 2003, shoppers in Carlisle flocked to meet Emmerdale soap star Peter Amory when the shop underwent a £665,000 revamp.
Peter, who played wheelchair-bound tycoon Chris Tate in the ITV soap, was surrounded by crowds at the Champagne event at the Wigton Road shop.
