Just checked out the results and Chris finished in 2hr 5 minutes which is more than respectable. Did a search on others who are known to take part in runs and such and cannot find any other finishers. There was a Tony Audenshaw listed but he didn't finish and I can't be sure he's our Tony Audenshaw anyway. Well done to Chris and hope all the cast sponsored him for plenty of cash because it was for a good cause.

Nicola Wheeler also ran. I saw her at the beginning of the elite runners pack on the tv just before they started the elite mens race. She was wearing a vest top similar to Chris Chittell. It was marvellous to see all those fantastic runners doing their bit for charity; especially those who had suffered from Cancer and raising money for those who helped them recover. It told me to be truly thankful for my health and maybe next year aim to run there to do my bit!

I agree so much with you and it makes you realise just what a nobody you are when you watch this sort of thing. I did find a Nicola Wheeler finished in 2hours 13 (I do have to assume it's the right Nicola Wheeler of course). Ignoring all the famous folk and everything I was rooting for the bloke who'd lost both legs and did it in a wheelchair. On top of that he was a charity fund raising addict who has done parachute jumps and the lot. He so much made me feel useless..... and as he works for Asda he is, this week, going to be sitting (wearing a pink tutu) in a bath of pink custard...... and I moan if I get cramp! Makes you think!

Four men died today in the race.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "I can confirm four male participants in the race have died, which is more than the usual one or two - but every year more people are taking part."

Just heard the same on the news. It's a shame but not down to the organisers, more down to peeps not being able to give up when they are beaten......
