From Harrogate today Festival proclaimed Harrogreat success THE Harrogreat Festival comes to an end this weekend and after proving to be a real success organisers hope it will run again next year. The festival has seen a range of events taking place, including musical performances from Harrogate Grammar and Beverley Grammar School pupils and an art exhibition by Harrogate youngster Edward Simpson.
Rachel Lodge, Marketing and Public Relations officer at Harrogate Theatre, said: “It has been a real delight to see people engaging with the festival and getting involved with a theatre that is a real part of the community.”
Recent events have included performances from the district’s students, a talk from lifelong Harrogate Theatre supporter Joan Mallett, an exhibition by members of Harrogate Photographic Society, and a host night from Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Phil Willis.
Talented students from Henshaw's Arts and Crafts Centre in Knaresborough have also exhibited their work throughout the theatre while a novel blank canvass, hung in the Stalls Bar, has given budding artists in the district the chance to add to the exhibition.
Tomorrow will seee the last night of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads , by the departing Harrogate Theatre Director Hannah Chissick.
Emmerdale fans will be treated to a special talk on the popular TV soap when producers attend the theatre tomorrow.
All Harrogreat events within the theatre are free.
