BOLTON's Emmerdale beauty Sammy Winward will be showing her support with over 200 children taking part in a Toddle Waddle to help raise awareness and funds for the Meningitis Trust the UK's leading meningitis charity on Sunday.
Toddle Waddle is the Meningitis Trust's largest annual fundraising event, raising in excess of £250,000 each year for the charity.
Organisers Natalie Yates and Michelle Holding were inspired to hold the toddle waddle after their friend lost her two year old daughter to the disease in 2003.
They say: "As a mum to a ten month old baby, Sammy knows how important it is to be aware of Meningitis, which kills more children under the age of five than any other infectious disease. Sammy will be walking with the 200 children to show her support for this most horrible disease."
Natalie said: "I organised the toddle waddle last year and it was a huge success and raised £3000 and we want to make it even bigger this year and with Sammy's help, it looks set to be a success.
"We will start at The White Horse Pub, Harwood, Bolton (Sammy's hometown) at 11am and walk to Little Gems Playgroup, Longsight, Harwood which is a mile.
"There will be an afternoon of fun activities including meeting Lofty the Lion (Bolton Wanderers mascot) and an auction hosted by David Flitcroft (Bury FC)"
Says Michelle: "We wanted to do something which would help make a difference and raise awareness as well as money and so we decided another Toddle Waddle was the perfect way to do both. We are trying to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the largest number of children to walk for charity fingers cross we succeed!"
