Ben Freeman ( Scott) is in the October Sky magazine about the Match programme that is on Sky now.
Here is the article in mag.
As the football-mad celebs compete for the chance to take on the legends, four of this year's frontrunners tell us how they're shaping up...
I'd been in the Big Brother house for nearly three months and had no training. I've been training with a football coach who holds sessions every Saturday morning.
" JEFF "Yeah, you can't be fit for football without playing football, so I'm arranging a lot of five-a-side games with mates. I'm also going for runs to build stamina."
It's like a life's dream," beams Jeff Brazier as he juggles a football and ponders his chances of making it into the celebrity squad that will run out against a team of football greats at a packed St James' Park, Newcastle on Sunday 8 October. The TV presenter (and Jade Goody's ex) is among 80 celebs - the highest number ever - who'll tackle trials in three shows this month in a bid to make the final team.
Emmerdale heart-throb Ben Freeman, a fellow first-timer, is also dreaming of glory. They face competition from the likes of last year's man-of-
the-match Anthony Hufton the Geordie winner of Big Brother in 2005 -
and singer Andy Scott-Lee, who are both aiming to make the celebrity team for the second year running. After two years of narrow defeats, can the celebs win this time?
The lads reveal all...
Not long to go, gentlemen, are you getting fit?
BEN "I've been eating raw eggs every morning. No, not really! I go to the gym four or five times a week and I play football a lot - for a pub team and the Emmerdale team, which I started. I'm reasonably fit.
ANDY "I'm going to the gym three times a week to build a bit of muscle. I play football on Mondays and Wednesdays as well, so I'm starting to feel quite fit." ANTHONY "I'm going to be a lot better this time.
Is there any stuff
you've had to cut out of your diet?
ANDY "Junk food - KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, all the stuff I love. I've cut it out for the last few months. It's hard, but I'm getting there.
BEN "I eat well, but Jack Daniel's is my poison. I guess I'll change the mixer from Coke to Diet Coke or something!
ANTHONY "I'm trying to stick to vodka and Coke, instead of beer, but I will definitely cut it out.
JEFF "I've got a massive appetite, but if you're working and training while you're eating rubbish, it balances out anyway. I don't go out much these days - the kids [Bobby Jack, three, and one-year-old Freddie] keep me out of trouble with drinking!"
Have you got any pre-match superstitions or rituals?
ANDY "I'm not the most superstitious person, but I always put my shin-pad on my left leg first. It's weird.
BEN "I always wear a strap on my ankle. I had an injury a couple of years ago and although my ankle has completely healed. I always feel the need to wear it."
ANTHONY "I have scrambled eggs and a banana. I used to play footbal on Saturday mornings and my gran would always rustle that up for me before the game.
JEFF "I avoid jam roly-poly! I was a trainee at Leyton Orienr and a scout was coming to watch me. Before the game my then girlfriend's mum made this dinner with jam roly-poly. I had to leave the pitch after JO minutes!"
Who'll come along to support you if you make it to TheMatcH?
JEFF "I have daydreams I score the winner and I look up into the crowd and see my two kids jumping around and clapping, and I give them a little wave. They've got to be there.
ANDY "Michelle [Andy's fiance, the Liberty X singer) will be there - she's so loud! It's great to have someone who's always behind you like that. Michelle's family are from Newcastle, so they'll be there, along with my family and the Liberty X guys."
ANTHONY "Last year when we ran out for the game I looked up and I could see my mam, my uncle and all my mates. Being a local lad, it was so emotional. It would be amazing to do it again.
" BEN "I'd hope the rest of the Emmerdale team and my family would come along. To play in front of 52,000 people would be an absolute dream come true."
