I don't know if this is the right place for this piece on Susan which I found in today's Argus, but here goes for all her fans.
Actress Susan Penhaligon was born in Manila in 1949, and broughtup in St Ives, Cornwall. She made her big screen debut in the 1971 movie, Say Hello to Yesterday and went on to appear in The Land that Time Forgot, No Sex Please; We're British, Patrick and Soldier of Orange. She has also appeared frequently on stage and on the small screen, most recently as Jean Hope in Emmerdale. She lives in London and has one son, Truran Munro and her partner is actor Duncan Preston.
If she ruled the world:
What would be your first act as ruler?
"I would create free public transport foreveryone. I@d also make sure I could have an endless supply of the latest movies and Champagne."
Who would be your most trusted adviser?
"Jesus, because I think he got a lot right."
Who would you banish?
"People who don't give me jobs."
Would you be a dictator or a benevolent leader?
"I'd be benevolent, but some people might think I was being a dictator because underneath my soft exterior there is a vein of steel."
Who would you single out for a knighthood and why?
"I can't think of anyone."
Who would you send to the tower or put in the stocks?
"My partner, Duncan Peston. We argue about things like the death penalty. I get in such a rage. I'd put him in the stocks without a moment's hesitation."
Which law would you abolish?
"The law involving companies and the cost of fuel. I think it is capitalism gone mad."
What law would you introduce?
"Because I live on a houseboat, there would be absolutely no dumping of sewage in the Thames. It kills all the fish and the wildlife."
Which building would you demolish and why?
"I'd get rid of of all those awful supermarket buildings that try to look like they are designed individually and end up looking like a homogenised mess. They also take trade away from small shops."
Which ruler or monarch do you most admire or have most in common with?
"I like our Queen . I think she does a good job with a very stoic look on her face, but I don't have much in common with her."
If you could change the National Anthem for another piece of music, what would it be and why?
"It would be the Floral Dance, so everyone would know how the Cornish like to party."
rage. I'd put him in the stocks without a moment's hesitation."
