From Yahoo entertainment news.
Since joining Emmerdale in 2004, Charlie Hardwick has become one of the show's most popular actresses.
Her role as flirtatious Val Lambert has generated plenty of giggles, but she may move some listeners to tears with an upcoming Radio 4 project.
On January 16, she reads The Waiting Room, an Afternoon Play celebrating the life of award-winning writer Julia Darling.
It features extracts from her poignant and honest web diary, which charted the ups and downs of her breast cancer.
Julia died from the illness in April 2005, leaving a legacy of moving poems, plays and stories.
