Life as I know it-
Matt Healy
Matt, 37, plays Matthew King in ITV1's Emmerdale. He is currently single and lives in Leeds.
If I could change anything about myself I'd...
like to be kinder and more patient.
The most romantic thing that someone's ever done for me is...
I remember a girl in my junior shool gave me a goldfish once and thought that meant love. That's what got me interested in girls.
Not a lot of people know this but I am very good at...
directions, don't have satellite navigation, because I don't need it.
You may not know it but I'm not good at...
dancing. You'd never see me on anything like Strictly Come dancing. There aren't enough weeks in the year to get me up the level of even passable.
To wake myself up I...
have a bath & a cup of strong black coffee.
Last thing at night I always...
Read. It knocks me straight off to sleep.
When I have time to myself I...
like to watch old black-and-white films like Casablanca and The African Queen. Those were the days when movie stars were stars and not idiots.
When I'm feeling down I...
Watch Laurel and Hardy - you can't fail to laugh at them.
My "happy place" is...
anywhere by the sea. My family are from Scotland that's where we used a spend our holidays when I was kid.
My best friend is...
my mucker Paul, who I went to school with and he now lives in Australia. Sadly we're both useless at email.
My proudest moment...
having the guts to walk out of a rubbish courier job in London, even though I had no idea what I would do next.
My little black book wouldn't be complete without...
sadly, I haven't even got a little black book.
The shop I can't walk past without buying something is...
Anywhere that sells trainers.
I always laugh at...
Father Ted. It was the best programme on TV.
The most expensive thing I've ever splashed out on...
is a suit I bought when I was suffering from a hangover and not thinking clearly. I spent far too much on it and have regretted getting it ever since.
When I need to wind down I...
have a Guinness in a pub - I very rarely drink at home.
I know I'm having a bad hair day when...
my mum says, That toupee you're wearing really doesn't suit you,' as she did recently after watching Emmerdale.
The book I'm reading at the moment is...
Dave Allen: The Biography, which I'm really enjoying. I think he was very underrated.
The last film I saw was...
Casino Royale. I read somewhere that I was a likely Bond candidate - no chance! Not that I wouldn't like it, but I'd prefer to play the villain.
The best day of my life...
is still to come. If I've already had it, then what have I got to look forward to?
My last meal would be...
my mother's shepherd's pie with a dollop of curry on the side.
The worst thing you could say to me is...
England have just beaten Scotland 3-0 at Hampden.
The best thing my parents taught me...
was don't do anything so bad that you are ashamed to look at the bloke staring back at you in the mirror.
If I can, I always try to avoid...
traffic jams.
It's not good for my image but I like...
The Sound of Music. I mentioned this once before and it's haunted me ever since.
My biggest influence...
is David Bowie. I love his sense of theatre.
My greatest self-indulgence is...
a nice curry. I can cook a good curry, actually - but I'd rather go out for one.
If I could pass any law it would be...
to toughen the laws on paedophilia.
I drive... a BMW 3 series.
The song I can never get out of my head is...
Fanfare for the Common Man.
When I was a child I wanted to be...
a footballer for Scotland, but I was never very good. I wish it had
stayed like it was in the 1970s when it was all about proper football and not "how does my hair look".
If I could be someone else I'll be...
superman. Not because I want to wear my underpants outside my trousers, but it would be groovy to
fly around saving the world.
My biggest regret is...
not practising enough football. If I'd have known the money involved I'd have practised 24 hours a day.
Emmerdale is on ITV1 every weekday evening at 7pm.
