HARROGATE Theatre is holding open auditions for a community production of Animal Farm.
Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock is helping launch the theatre’s search for local performers from around the region to take part in a community production of Animal Farm to be staged in July.
Open auditions are being held on Thursday at 7pm. No previous theatre experience is necessary, so if you’ve ever fancied treading the boards of Harrogate Theatre now is your chance.
All participants in the audition will be asked to read lines from the script, you don’t need to prepare anything beforehand and you should wear loose clothing.
Mark Charnock said: “I’ve had the privilege of performing on the wonderful Harrogate Theatre stage and it really is a special experience to step out in front of a live audience. I really urge as many
people as possible to get involved with Animal Farm so they too will get the chance to have the same magical experience.”
The theatre is looking for applicants from the 13 years of age and upwards. You must be available for rehearsals on the majority of Sundays between April and July and performances on July 18 and 19.
Produced with a professional creative team, Animal Farm is the timeless tale of the animals of Manor Farm who overthrow their masters and quickly discover that ‘All animals are equal’ but some are more equal than others.
David Bown, chief executive of Harrogate Theatre said: “Last year it was so rewarding to see so many people from around the district come together and enjoy the camaraderie of putting a show together. As rehearsals went on it was wonderful to see friendships grow as well as people’s confidence. I hope many more people will get involved this year.”
