Just found this from a while ago when I ran Emmerdale Net...........

Use 2001: The main comments centred around actually USING popular characters that seem to have been forgotten in the main turn of events. Two names spring that came up most were Carlos Diaz (Give him something to do) and Laura Johnstone (Bring her back and give her something to do this time.)
Lose 2001: The only name consistenly cropping up was Tim Vincent.
Improvements 2001: The popular ones are:
1. Go back to three nights
2. Start a networked omnibus edition.
3. Use more locations and different camera angles. The main comments being
that the village set is being used too much when it is surrounded by farming
country and nice local towns. Plus in internal sets we see the same old
camera angles all the time.
4. Lots of comments about the way new characters are introduced, often being thrown straight into a storyline with almost no attempt to establish them.
More detail, including some voter's comments can be found with the FULL
vote.
The Vote
There were just over 200 votes cast of which 147 were acceptable, the others rejected mainly because of attempts to make multiple votes or for not
including a working e-mail address.
Not everyone voted in every category and that is why I have shown the
results as a percentage of the votes cast in each category.
There were NO restrictions or prior nominations meaning voters could vote
for their favourite instead of someone from a shortlist.
Some votes in each category were rejected. By far the main reason for this
was that the vote was for someone who had not appeared in the show in 2000.
