From the News and Star
EX-Coronation Street and Emmerdale actress Roberta Kerr lines up in the cast for Keswick Theatre by the Lake’s Christmas production of The Borrowers.
Roberta, who played Wendy Crozier in Corrie then moved on to Emmerdale where she was Jan Glover, is one of three new faces who will tread the lakeside boards this winter.
Rehearsals for the Christmas production begin later this week as the new cast arrives in Keswick. The play, based on the books by Mary Norton and adapted for the stage by Charles Way, opens on Saturday December 1 (preview Friday 30 November) at 7pm and runs until Saturday January 12.
The cast includes John Webb, who last appeared on stage at Theatre by the Lake as Ratty in 2004’s acclaimed production of The Wind in the Willows. Other familiar faces are Ella Vale, who appeared in the 2006 Summer Season, and Amanda Bellamy (Summer Season 2003).
Appearing for the first time in Keswick are David Waddington and James Wooldridge as well as Roberta Kerr.
The theatre’s annual Christmas shows have gained a reputation for their imaginative sets and beautiful costumes. This year’s show will be no exception as it transforms familiar domestic surroundings into challenging and exciting new worlds, inviting audiences to experience life on a different scale in the magical world of The Borrowers.
The Borrowers is directed by associate director Stefan Escreet and assistant director Mary Papadima.
Stefan said: “This production will take you on a thrilling journey, shrinking you to the size of a Borrower, then blowing you up to the size of a house. This Christmas The Borrowers will leave the whole family feeling ten feet tall.”
