'' I wanted people to see the real me.It was one of the best things I've ever done'.
Adele Silva won a whole new army of fans when she appeared Kitchen with legendary chef Marco Pierre White. The 26-year- who plays Kelly Windsor in was hotly tipped to win the show - even by Marco himself pipped to the post by Barry And nobody could have shocked than Adele that runner-up. "The only thing that I could make before I went on Hell's a salad," she says. "I exceed my expectations and was genuinely pleased when Barry won because he is a man with a heart of gold, dreamed I would not even get to the final. Her success comes during a transition for Adele, who single after dating Antony Costa of the boy band Blue before spilting up last November after a two-year relationship and is now due to leave Emmerdale for the second time. She joined the she was 15 and starred as Kelly Windsor for seven years. After returning to the soap in 2005, she's now decided to move on again and her final scenes in the soap will be seen in mid October,
She explains: "I told them I wanted to leave but they asked if I would coming back, so I'm not bening killed off. Nothing is cast in stone with Emmerdale. I'm having at least a year off & then we'll see if they want me back. I am only 26.I don't have a husband & kids so I felt I could take a risk & try my hand at other roles before I settle down.I'd also like to travel'
As always Adele has the full support of the woman she describes as her best friend- her mother Sophie 57 here interviewed together for the first time Adele reveals the truth about Hell's Kitchen,Emmerdale & her love life- while Sophie give us the low down on her famous daughter.
Adele, what was the highlight of appearing on Hell's Kitchen?
The best part was working with Marco Pierre White. I didn't know he was backing me to win, but 1 was very flatterd when I found out. He's a complete gent and lovely. I can see why a lot of women are attracted to him. He is rough and rugged and very manly, I was too busy working to see any of that.
The one person I did fancy who came in to the restaurant was Jean- Christophe Novelli. He has the whole package - he's gorgeous, dresses well, smells lovely and has a sexy French accent. I thought, 'Mmm, I wouldn't mind him chatting down my ear.' But there was just one problem - he has a girlfriend!
"I also loved meeting [fellow conĀtestant] Brian Bowling. We had a lot of laughs during our breaks and we'll all be reunited at the opening of Marco's new restaurant in Chelsea."
And the hardest part?
"Using a rolling pin to iron out the tendons in some cabbage leaves -honestly, I came out with very toned arms. And Jim Davidson - I'm annoyed that I allowed him to wind me up. He's just a grumpy old man with old-fashioned views who hasn't moved into the 21st century and I'm glad he left the show."
You've been single since you split with Antony Costa last year. Are you dating?
"I haven't dated anyone since I split with Ant. I was surprised to see him at Hell's Kitchen on the opening night. We haven't fallen out but we don't much contact. I've only seen him
once previously since we split, and that was about for 20 minutes for a coffee. We don't really keep in touch - I don't think is nice for the ex to keep calling or texting when a man is dating someone else.
"I don't regret the relationship with Ant because we had some good times. But towards the end I knew it was not right We had seen each other just twice in several weeks
because of work commitment rushed into hospital with a burst cyst on my ovary.I'd never been in so much pain. I went in the Thursday and came out on the Saturday and I didn't see Ant until the Sunday. He was doing show at the time, but I still felt that if the position was reversed, I'd have made sure that I would get to see him in hospital. I felt I was making all the effort and couldn't keep on doing it.
"I look back now and because I'm more adult I can see the relationship wasn't right but there's no bitterness. I didn't want to jump another relationship, I needed some space and I've enjoyed being single & going out with my friends - and still do. I'm not looking for a man. I think that if you look, you don't find one.''
What prompted you to leave Emmerdale this time?
"I wanted to try my hand at different roles the reason I went into Hell's Kitchen is because I wanted people would see the real me, rather than as Kelly Windsor. I was scared about it as I thought that people didn't like me, but it was one best things that I've ever done. I enjoyed every moment of it.
"I would love to do a gritty ITV drama or appear in Dr Who - my first acting role was in Doctor Who when I was seven, so it would be glad off the chance to go back. I'd also like some travelling''.
You say your mum is your best friend...
"We're very close and I tell her everything when I'm not at my flat in Leeds, I always at my mum and dad George at my childhood home in Norbury, near Croydon. I could stay somewhere glamorous in London but I like to stay close to my roots.I feel safe there and I love spending time with my mum. We go on massive shopping sprees to Harrods - and she encourages to buy expensive handbags and shoes so she borrow them!"
Sophie, you've said Adele had never even boiled an egg before she went into Hell's Kitchen did she never learn to cook?
"That's my fault. Adele is left-handed I was always too frightened to let her into the kitchen incase she cut or burned herself. I was worried that she would end up cutting her hand off when she was in the show, but she came out with just a few snips I'm really proud of what she's achieved & she has cooked since she left the show, I don't think that she can stand the sight of food at the moment but she has promised to make me her chicken pie was so admired on the programme. 1 waiting!"
Would you like to see Adele settle down?
"Yes, I think any mother wants to see hen happily settled, but only with the right: he hasn't turned up yet. There isn't one on the horizon either. I've always said to Adele it will happen when you least expect it' She's s she's beautiful and has a marvellous personality I know her Mr Right will come along eventually''.
Finally, Adele, how are you going to celeb success in Hell's Kitchen?
"I'm going shopping with my mum, off course We're going on a massive spree to Harrods as we haven't been shopping for a month and I am itching to get into the stores."
