Not just glitter... it’s pure gold!
By Scene South
GLITTER, GLITTER everywhere, slapstick songs and rhyme. Sleeping Beauty takes the stage in this sparkling pantomime.
And what a superb opening it was. . . if laughter music and fun indicate a great Christmas show then this musical delight at Bournemouth Pavilion is a winner.
From its glittering start the polished performance introduced a host of TV stars and even added a flavour of the hit High School Musical.
Television sketches and asides abound through the tale with guest appearances from Dr Who's tardis, Wonder Woman and even Anne Robinson.
Laughter is never far away with the entertaining Christopher Pizzey, from The Basil Brush Show, as Silly Billy and a fabulous dame played by Andrew Ryan, who received a huge round of applause for his outstanding performance and stage presence.
Malandra Burrows, of Emmerdale fame, glowed as Snow Flake the fairy whenever she was on stage and with the superb vocal skills of Stephanie McWilliams as the princess and dashing Tom Bonser as the prince this tale has magic, heroics and romance.

The special effects and aerial stunts, especially as the prince travels in time, are marvellous and David Ball's choreography made great entertainment.
A special mention goes to Helen Fraser, Bodybag, from the TV show Bad Girls who obviously relished her role as the bad fairy. The talented cast also had the joy of performing with great costumes and an intricate set which was awash with glitter.
Pantomime is all about magic, laughter and fun and this glitzy show will sparkle until it closes on January 6. SLEEPING BEAUTY Bournemouth Pavilion
