Well what's gonna happen is... nope, sorry can't tell you. You'll have to wait and see *sticks tongue out*
Thanks for all the lovely feedback, it really is appreciated! I'm slowly feeling less and less confident with this, but anyways, a two parter chapter, hope you like it!
Chapter VIII: Part 1
Question: What Is Love?
“Hurry up, we’re going to miss the flight!”
“I’m coming… Carl?”
“Wait a moment I need to get the tickets!”
“They’re on the table in the kitchen.”
Carl rushed off to retrieve the tickets. Moments later he was storming back into the hallway he glared at Chas.
“No they aren’t! Stop wasting time!”
“I saw them a minute ago!”
”Well they’re not now.”
“Let me go and look.”
Sighing, she withdrew and headed back into the kitchen, Carl’s harsh words ringing in her ears. Looking around hastily, she saw the two pieces of card lying on the end of the table.
“Carl?”
“Have you found them?”
“Yeah, they were on the kitchen table like I said.”
“You never said they were on the kitchen table, you said they were in the dining room!”
Chas bit her lip and shook her head worriedly. Then, in an attempt to look offhand she tossed her hair over her shoulder.
“Whatever.”
“Right let’s go.”
“Carl, aren’t you forgetting something?”
“What?”
“Your family.”
“What about them?”
“Don’t you think you should end it on good terms?”
“No.”
“Carl…”
“Chas, this is one point I won’t argue with you on. I’m going now. If you don’t want to come with me, fine.”
“Alright! I’m coming.”
Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
“Um… Carl?”
“What?”
“Are you sure this is the way to Manchester Airport?”
“Yes, of course I am.”
“The why is there a sign welcoming us into Hull?”
“Ssh a minute. Now that one’s pointing to Newcastle and that’s one’s pointing to Scarbo – wait, that can’t be right.”
“Carl, face it. You’ve gone the wrong way.”
“No I haven’t.”
“Yes you have!”
“Oh shut your fat gob, bitch.”
Chas stared open mouthed at him.
“Don’t look at me like that.”
“Well I’m sorry, but seeing as I’m the one making the sacrifices for this then –
“What are talking about? If you don’t want to make all your sacrifices then don’t bother coming!”
“I never said I didn’t want to come…”
“Well make your bloody mind up then.”
“I’m sorry but I do not expect to be treated like this! You’re the one who should be grovelling to me! How dare you speak to me like that?”
“I’m so sick of the ‘oh, you dumped me line, you have to make it up to me’ line. It’s boring.”
“I’m going. I must’ve been mental to agree to this, with you anyway.”
“How do you think you’re getting back!”
“Train! Anything’s better than your car.”
And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding…
“What about your stuff?”
“Send it back to me.”
“Oh, come on.”
“No. Just ‘cause you’ve got a brain tumour, you think that gives you the right to treat me like dirt? Well I’m telling you now, it doesn’t, so bog off and leave me alone.”
“Fine!”
And he drove off. Leaving her alone, shivering in the cold.

Part 2
Answer: Whatever You Make It
Chas shuffled towards the bus station. She was shocked, completely shocked. She had known that Carl was prone to mood swings, she had known what to expect, but in some ways she hadn’t. She had had no concept of what the disease did to you, or how fast it progressed. She had thought it was like bronchitis – you took the antibiotics, and voila, cured. But it wasn’t like that. It wasn’t straightforward.
Chas’ childhood had been troubled, but the tragedies in her life had always revolved around money and parents, or lack of. She had no experience of cancer and what it could do. She was out of her depth.
A silver car pulled into view, in the company of a blonde crop of hair, with a pair of tearful silvery blue eyes that she would recognise anywhere.
Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now
“You haven’t got very far.” His voice had become gruff.
“Neither have you.”
An awkward silence followed these two statements.

“NO!”
“HIT ME!”
And he grabbed her fist and started punching himself with it. Forcing her reluctant, lifeless arm to punish himself.
“I. Am. A. Waste. Of. Space.”
With each word he hit himself harder and harder, until Chas’ hand had turned a bright cerise red.
“STOP IT!”
“Sorry, sorry.”
Chas snatched her hand back and looked back at him in fear.
“Who are you?”
“Me? Me, I’m Carl King aren’t I?”
Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow

Carl’s maniac grin suddenly swapped for a grim frown, as he flew back in to Reality Airport.
“I… I hate this. I hate what it’s doing to me, to you. The whole bloody situation. I hate it.”

“You know what Chas?”
I said maybe

“What?”
“I love you.”
“What’s happening to us?”
“What do you mean?”
“One minute you’re all, ‘No, I hate you, you bitch’ and then the next, you’re all, ‘Chas, I love you’.”
“I know... I’m sorry.”
“Stop saying that.”
“Ok.”
There was a pause before Carl swallowed and began to stutter over his next sentence.
“Chas I need to ask you a big favour. Well, it’s not so much as a favour as a request, really. Although it’s not that either, it’s more of a - ”
“Shut up and ask me.”
“You won’t like this, and I’m not forcing you into it, but…”
“Spit it out.”
“I… I can’t do this much longer Chas. I know you think I’m being selfish, but I’m not, it’s just, mentally, I’m shutting down. And… well… I think it’s time to shut down physically too.”
I said maybe

WoW powerful stuff Sapphira. I like the Oasis lyrics in the story too which seemed to join in together well.
I loved it awwww poor Carl & Chas.

This succession of words echoed the disbelieving look that had fallen upon her face. Chas shook her head frantically from side to side.
“No. No. You’re lying. You’re bloody lying.”
“Lying in a wooden box six feet under.”
“Don’t make a joke out of this. It’s not funny!”
”What else do you expect me to do? I’ve only got two months left and you – “
Chas froze. Two months.
Two months?
Deep beneath the cover

“Shut up!”

Carl laughed and drew her into his arms.

Chas pulled away from him, exasperated.
“You had to go and ruin it didn’t you.”
“Sorry.”
“Yeah.”
“It just slipped out.”
“Never mind. I guess I can’t keep living in my fantasy world where we walk off into the sunset, together forever.”

“But I’m still here. So you can look down on me from your place in the sky.”
