2 weeks later
Chas and Carl had talked quite a bit an had decided to for the moment move permanently into home farm. Chas had decided to go into Horten for a coffee and a girly chat with Perdy. Matt and Carl said they would look after the kids, so with that both women headed into Hotten. After what seemed like days of shopping, chatting and stopping to have a coffee. Perdy was tired and wanted to go home.So Chas decided that she would just get the bus back in a couple of hours, she just wanted some time to herself, to buy herself something. Perdy headed home in the car and Chas went into debenhams.
It was about 4pm and Chas was heading to the bus stop. She began to cross the road looking both ways, she was very aware that this was a busy road. Chas turned her head slightly more to the right, she was about seven steps away from the pavement when a black sports car came speeding buy, it it Chas she flipped the whole way over the car, and fell to the ground. The car sped of so fast no-one got a look at it. Chas lay unconscious on the ground, people came over one of which was a nurse, another woman phoned an ambulance. Carl, Ellie and Bethany were watching a movie unaware of the terrible events about to unflod...........

Chas was rushed through to A&E, doctors began assessing her and trying to identify her. After a police officer looked in Chas's handbag they found her ID and managed to phone Carl.
Back at home Farm
Carl was chalk white, he wasn't sure what to do or what to think, he had to get to the hospital. Matthew said he would watch Ellie and Beth and Jimmy told Carl that he would drive, as Carl seemed in no fit state to drive.
Once they were at the hospital Carl got out at the door and Jimmy went to find a parking space. Carl ran through the doors to the reception desk he barged right through the Que of people waiting, and once he eventually got someones attention they showed him to the relatives room and just told him to wait there for news from a doctor.
Jimmy was shown to the room were Carl was sitting, a nurse had been in to talk to Carl just to let him now that Chas was in the best possible care but this didn't make him feel any better. Him and Jimmy sat in silence for about 20 minutes until a Doctor entered the small room. "Mr.King" the Doctor said shaking Carl's hand. "Please tell me she'll be OK?"Carl pleaded to the Doctor he couldn't lose Chas not after all they had been through. "Mr.King, your wife is in a serious but now stable condition, were going to need to give her a few x-rays and scans, and once thats done we will know the full extent of the damage." "Can i see her just now?" Carl asked still in shock. "Em...yes but she is attached to allot of machines and is still unconscious from the accident and the medication." The doctor showed Carl and Jimmy to the room in which Chas was in. Jimmy thought it was best if he gave Carl a minute alone with Chas. Carl walked through the door and couldn't believe what he seen, there were machines everywhere, all beeping she looked so helpless, Carl thought to himself how someone so strong could look so weak and defenseless. He sat beside Chas and Held her hand just hoping things would be ok..............

Carl had been sitting with Chas for about two hours until she was taken for x-rays and scans. When she was wheeled unconsiuos back into the room where carl was still sitting, he looked and felt very tired and was worried about leaving the kids but didn't want to leave incase anything happened to Chas.
A doctor entered the room about fifteen minutes later. Carl looked pleadingly at the docotr, as he seen he had x-ras in his hand. "Mr.King, im afraid to say that your wife has had some seriuos damage done to her back, and has broked her ankle" Carl really didn't know what to say. "What do you mean damaged her back?" Carl asked
The doctor explained to Carl all the x-rays, telling him that she woud have her ankle plastered and the cuts on her face stitched but they may hae to operate so she could walk again, but this couldn't happen till she had woken up. Once the dcotor left Carl just sat besdie chas holding her hand praying that she would wake up, and that she'd be ok....

The next day about 7am Carl decided to go home for a bit, to get a shower, something to eat and see the kids, Bethany was to young to really know what was going on. But Ellie was missing her mum, and Carl hated seeing his daughter so upset, but he knew he couldn't let her see her mum in this state. Carl arrived back at the hospital at around 12pm, Chas was still unconscious but the doctor had taken her breathing tube out and she was breathing on her own, all Carl had to do know was wait for her to wake up.
About another hour had passed all sorts were going trough Carl's head, what would he do if she died, what about the kids, or what if she could never walk again, he would still love her and so would Ellie and Bethany but she would hate it so much because shes so independent and hates having to rely on people to help her all the time.
Carl was looking at Chas thinking how beautiful she was when he seen her hand move, he wasn't sure what to do so called a nurse who came rushing in. In the net ten minutes Chas opened her eyes, Carl was so glad she was awake, but Chas noticed that she couldn't feel her legs.
The nurse said she was going to get a Doctor and Left the room. Carl tried to explain why she couldn't feel her legs and reassure her that everything would be OK, and tell her about the operation.
Three hours later
Carl kissed Chas's head, and told her he would be right here waiting when she came out of theater and with that two porters wheeled her through the swinging doors. Carl just had to wait..........wait and see what happens ...............

Carl was sitting in the relatives room, he had spoke to Matt to make sure the kids were OK, but what really upset Carl was that none of Chas's family had bothered to come never mind phone to ask how she was. It had been a good few hours and Carl was so tired he was almost falling asleep just sitting there by himself, he was startled to see a doctor walk through the door he thought it would have been longer.
"Is she OK?" Carl asked before the doctor could get a word in edge ways.
"Mr.King, the operation was successful, we've managed to repair the bad damage to your wifes back, but it could be a few months before shes properly walking again."
"But, she will be OK" Carl said with the biggest smile on his face, he was just so relieved that Chas was OK
"She should be, were just bringing her down from theater just now, then you can see her." the Doctor replied as he shook Carl's hand and left the room.
Carl sat back down it felt like weight had been lifted of his shoulder, he was just so glad she was still alive. He walked outside the room to wait for Chas coming down from recovery...

Chas was just beginning to wake up as they pushed her into a private room at the end of the ward.
Carl lent over and kissed her forehead.
"Hey you, how you feeling?" Carl asked sitting down beside her
"Ok...i think, my back hurts, ............what happened.?" Chas managed to say weakly
"You were in an accident, can you not remember? Someone just hit yo and left you there" Carl said
"Not really, all i remember was this black car, driving down the road and thats it" Chas replied confused as to what had happened.
A few hours later Chas had been awake for a while, the surgeon had been down and explained that Chas might not be able to walk properly for a few months but she should be fine. Chas desperately wanted to see Bethany and Ellie, but the police wanted to talk to her first.
" Is this the car you remember seeing?" DSI disari asked as he stood beside Chas's hospital bed.
"Yes.....thats definitely the car" Chas replied while holding onto Carl's hand
"Well this car was on the CCTV footage of where you were ran over, now we've managed to identify the number plate and tracked down the owner"
"So does that mean that whoever done this to her, will be caught and arrested for nearly killing my wife" Carl said in quite an angry tone.
"Well its not that simple, you see the man who owns this car is wanted for kidnap and theft as well, the owner of this car who knocked you over Mrs.king is Cain Dingle"..........................

Chas just sat there all sorts going through her mind. One, why was Cain back in England he had his new life in America. Two, did he purposely hit her, and Three if so why would he leave his own sister there to die.
"You what......................Cain.................he wouldn't do that" Chas managed to say even though she was still in shock.
"Well, we are trying to track him down, at least we now know hes in the country" and with that DSI disari left because Chas couldn't remember anything else.
Carl wasn't sure what to say to Chas.
"Em...look al nip home and check on Bethany and Ellie and I'll bring some of your stuff"
Chas just nodded and sat there for a minute
"Ye, i want to see them though......."
"Well why don't i bring them tomorrow seeing you in here and in this state wont do them any favors, now Will it?" Carl stated
"Spoze'not, Carl................ why would Cain do this, i mean even if he didn't know it was me why wouldn't he stop if he knocked someone over...... i just don't understand" Chas said as her eyes began welling up, she was so confused by everything.
Carl just gave Chas a kiss and a hug.
"Look I'll be back in a couple of hours will you be OK?"
"Ye, I'll be fine" Chas replied as Carl left the room. Chas wasn't really sure what to think, if the police caught Cain they could only charge him if she pressed charges, but if she decided not to Carl would still want to press charges for kidnapping his dad,.............

The next day
Chas hadn't really slept last night she hated being away from Carl, Ellie and Bethany, but of course this wasn't the only reason she hadn't slept, she was so confused did Cain have any idea what he'd done? She might not be able to walk for months. She couldn't stop thinking about him.
It was about 10am and Ellie came running through the door, she ran straight over to Chas and wrapped her arms around her mum. Ellie was slightly out of breath as she had ran the whole way up the corridor. Carl entered moments later with Bethany, who instantly put her arms out to go to Chas.
Chas hadn't looked it the mirror yet, she couldn't bring her self to, Carl had told her it wasn't to bad but it certainly felt it, she knew there was stitches on her face so it must have been pretty bad. But Chas was trying not to think about it just now she was just so glad to see Ellie and Bethany. Ellie had made her a Card and picked some flowers. although things were bad just now Carl couldn't help but smile as he looked at Chas with their two daughters.
After a couple of hours Chas was getting a bit tired, and Carl could sense she had things on her mind. So Lisa came and seen Chas and then took the kids home, eventually, they both were very reluctant to leave their mum and dad.
Carl knew he had to talk to Chas about cain he just wasn't sure how to go about it..............
