One very hot weekend in July, Chas was coming down the stairs to see a figure sat in the dark, to her surprise it was her husband!
" what are you doing sat in the dark you numpty?" Chas said
" Oh i know, you're just in a mood cos its your 36th Birthday, well don't worry baby, you've still got it where it counts!" Chas then kissed her husband, when they were interrupted by Ellie
.
Chas and Carl's marriage, well for once it was happy, they really loved each other, and they were both determined that no one would take them away from one another again! They had married just over 3 years ago in Cuba on a beach, and less than two months ago they welcomed another baby into the world, Bethany.
After breakfast Chas began to to finish the packing and to make sure that everything was sorted, this was the first time they has taken Bethany on a plane, so she wanted to make sure that nothing could go wrong!
A few hours and several rows later Chas and Carl, Ellie and Bethany were ready and waiting for their taxi!

It was nearly six o’clock by the time they arrived in Emmerdale, when they had gotten of the flight Carl had phoned Jimmy to let him now they were coming and to ask if they could stay at home farm, Carl had decided to let Chas go with the kids up to wishing well and he would go up to home farm and get their stuff sorted.
After the taxi had dropped Chas and kids of at wishing well, carl headed up to Home farm, he wasn't sure if he was going to get a warm reception or not because they had left with out telling anyone. As he was paying the taxi driver and getting the suitcases out the taxi, Scarlett and a young boy came running out of the house. Scarlett gave her brother a hug and Carl suddeny felt relived and thought that things will be ok. Matthew, Jimmy and Perdy soon followed.
Half an hour later
Matthew, Jimmy and Carl were all in the kitchen having a drink, Carl had explained why him and Chas and Ellie had to leave and about their new life, how happy he was with Chas, Ellie and Bethany.
"So things are all good, glad they are for you, Kelly left about a year afters yous' did, she said she wasn't in love anymore and well that was that" Jimmy ranted, everyone else in the room coud sense how unhappy Jimm ws that Kelly had left him.
"Never really thought you were the fatherly type matthew" Carl said sarcasticaly as the young boy ran into the kitchen and jumped up on Matt's knee, the boy looked about 4 years old, he didn't have any of Matthew or Perdys features though.
"Ye, well a child was the one thing Perdy always wanted, so about a year after yous' left we looked into adoption, and I have to say its the best thing i've ever done." Matthew said with a smile on his face.

MeanwhileWhen Chas had first came into the house she had a slightly hostile reception because she had left with no reason with Ellie, but after everyone had sat down and began chatting everything was fine. Chas was talking to Lisa while Shadrach held little Bethany in his arms and Ellie was playing with belle. To Chas her dad was a totally different person; he hadn’t been drinking as much and even started having baths. “He’s really missed you, you know he became a new person” Lisa told Chas Chas just smiled at Lisa. “Hey so why didn’t we get wedding invites?” Lisa asked in a humours tone. “Well we were going to invite people but, then we thought it would be nice just the to of us” Chas replied hoping this would start an argument from occurring as she knew how much they would have all liked to come. Shadrach came over at this point and handed Bethany who was crying to Chas "She's perfect, they both are" Shdrach said to his daughter he was so proud of Chas. "So how long are's yous' planning on staing then" "A few months, hopefully if Carls gotton on ok with Matt and Jim" Chas replied slightly worried about Carl. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sorry its not to long, hopefully i'll be able to post more later tonight

A few days laterCarl, Chas, Ellie and Bethany were all in the lounge of Home Farm. Carl and Chas were sitting together on the sofa cuddling Bethany in their arms, while Ellie sat perched on the edge of the coffee table eating a bowl of cereal so intrigued in the television that she nearly dropped the bowl. Matthew and Perdy were in the kitchen with little Andrew all three making pancakes making quite a mess. Matthew was having a great time, he had never been happier, and although he never said to anyone he was so glad to have Carl back it felt like the family were all back together. Back in the lounge, Chas stood up and headed upstairs for a shower. As she went into the bedroom, she made her and Carl's bed and sorted out Beth's moses basket, before turning the shower on as she sat down on the bed to turn her phone off it began ringing. "Hi Lisa" Chas said "Hi, pet. Erm.....i don't really know how to tell you this" "Tell me what?" Chas asked in a worried tone not really sure what was going on. A few minutes later Chas came down the stairs, she was pale and as she walked back into the lounge Carl didn't know what was going on. "Mummy, what's wrong" Ellie said running up to Chas, she didn't mean to brush off her own daughter but she walked straight past her and sat on the sofa. "Babe, whats wrong?" Carl said placing his arm around Chas. "It's my dad" Chas answered "Whats happened" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hope it's ok, hopefully be able to post more later

Chas just sat there starring into space.
“Ellie why don’t you go in the kitchen with uncle Matt” Carl asked his daughter, she seemed confused but done as her dad told her to, Carl placed Beth on the floor on her play mat, and sat back down next to Chas.
“Chas, come on tell me what’s happened” Carl said softly
Chas couldn’t say anything and just broke down in tears, Carl wrapped his arms around her and stroked her hair; he had kind of figure out that something must have happened to Shadrach.
Chas pulled away from Carl’s arms and looked at him.
“He’s dead Carl, my dad’s dead, he can’t be” Chas managed to say through her sobs.
Carl really didn’t know what to say, he just pulled her close again, and held her. After a few minutes Carl thought he better break the silence
“You ok…………..sorry stupid question, Babe please tell me what’s happened” Carl pleaded.
“He was knocked down out side the shop, they just drove off and left him there, look am going for a walk I need to think” Chas said before leaving.
Carl was about to go after her when he thought that he should just leave her, he picked up Bethany and stood at the window, he might not always have liked Shadrach but he was his wife’s Dad, he didn’t know how to help Chas, he said to himself that if she wasn’t back in an hour he would go and find her.

Chas was just wandering around not really sure where she was going, as she looked up she seen wishing well cottage. She wasn't really sure whether to go in or not. She seen Zak standing outside so thought she'd better go up.
"You OK?" Zak said as Chas approached him
"No, not really" Chas answered with tears running down her cheeks
Zak gave Chas a hug, he knew what it was like to lose your dad.
"Come on inside" Zak said to Chas before heading inside the house.
Chas and Zak both sat on the couch, she still couldn't get it through her head why someone would knock him down and just leave him lying there on the ground to die by himself.
Chas just sat there deep in her own thoughts, she remembered back to when she told her mum and dad she was pregnant, her mum had looked at her like she was cheap and worthless but her dad stuck by her, he might not have been prefect but he had always stuck by her. When she had went back too school everyone was so horrible to her for having a baby at 14 and her mum didn't even loom at her anymore and wanted nothing to do with Aaron. But her dad always told her everything would be OK, and helped out so much.
Over the last few days she had seen a whole new person in her dad, he had accepted Carl and was great with Ellie and Bethany, and now they wouldn't get to know their grampa.
After talking to Zak and Lisa, and having a coffee she thought she better get back to Carl he would be worried, she text him and headed back to home farm.
15 minutes later
Ellie was playing outside with Andrew and Bethany was asleep. Carl was sitting in the lounge waiting on Chas coming back. As she walked through the door he could see she had been crying more or less since she left. He didn't say anything he just wrapped his arms around her and they both sat on the sofa for about 2 hours.
The silence of the room was broken by Bethany's cry, Carl released Chas form his arms.
She wiped the tears away from her eyes and stood up, Carl followed her as she walked out the room and up the stairs. Chas picked up he daughter and held her until she stopped crying, Bethany's big eyes looking up at her, Carl sat down beside them both. Chas and Carl both sat looking at their baby girl, deep down Chas was so upset about losing her dad but knew that she had Carl and the kids to help her through this and that Carl knew what she was going through.

When Carl was awakened by Bethany, he decided to get up and just leave Chas in bed, he knew she hadn't slept as she had been tossing and turning all night.
Half and hour later
Carl was sitting at the kitchen table feeding Bethany and Ellie was eating some toast, they were having a conversation about the new Barbie doll that Ellie wanted. Chas walked into the kitchen, and sat down at the table beside Ellie.
"Mummy, are you still sad" Ellie asked giving Chas a hug.
"Just a little bit darling" Chas replied looking at her daughter
"Al give you a kiss and make you feel better" Ellie said as she leaned over and gave her mum a kiss. Chas just smiled at how caring Ellie was.
"You alright, babe?" Carl asked
"Ye, just need the funeral to hurry up"
"Look you finish feeding her and al give the police station a call and see when they'll release the body, OK?" Carl said as he handed Bethany and the bottle to Chas.
Ten minutes later when Carl returned into the kitchen, he told Ellie to go and brush her teeth and get dressed, she happily done as she was told and skipped out of the kitchen.
Chas who was still cuddling her daughter asked Carl what was wrong.
"They said they might not be able to release his body for another few weeks"
"What, why I just want to bury him so I can start to get over this" Chas said as her eyes welled up with tears.
"Look, i know its hard, but I'm here to help you, look al get both them ready and go and get Ellie that new doll she wants, shes been good these last few days. And I'll run you a bath, ye?"
"Ye"
Once Carl had run Chas a bath and he had got both the kids ready, he decided to take them with him and give Chas some time on her own. He got them both into the car and headed off, Ellie was singing along to a Hannah Montana CD that was blaring away and Bethany was just lying there looking at her sister as if she was crazy. Carl was thinking, he thought he would buy Chas something special to make her feel a bit better.........

As Carl was pushing the pram out the toy shop, Ellie accidentally ran into a man and his son, as Carl looked up from the pram to say sorry for Ellie when he realized who it was. Gordon and Aaron.
"Right Ellie come on" Carl said to his daughter as he began to walk away. Aaron just stood their he wasn't even sure if his mum and Carl were still together, if they were he was wondering if those two little girls could be his sisters. He wanted to say something but didn't as his dad was there.
"Aaron, are you alright" Gordon asked
"Ye fine" Aaron said as he turned around
"Look if you want to know your mum, then just say so, your 19 years old, you can go and see her yourself."
"I know but what if her and Carl are together and thats her two new kids, she wont want to know me." Aaron said
"Well why don't we try and catch up with Carl, and ask him then"
They both started to walk in the direction in the direction Carl had walked, but couldn't find him anywhere.

When Carl arrived home he didn't tell Chas that he had seen Aaron, Ellie went up the stairs to play with her new toy. Carl got Bethany out her car seat and went into the lounge where Chas was sitting, he could tell she had been crying.
"She's missed you" Carl said as he handed Beth to Chas. He sat beside her and put an arm around her shoulder and kissed her cheek. He was going to give Chas the dress he had bought her but thought he would wait till later, once she was feeling a bit better, it was the one dress she had wanted but couldn't buy because she had been pregnant and wouldn't have fitted into it.
As he was taking his coat of out in the hall the door bell rang, as he opened it he was shocked by who he saw.
"Aaron" Carl said glued to the spot
"Hi, take it you and mum are still together them"
"Yip, look what are you doing here, she really doesn't need anything to upset her just now" Carl said
"why whats happened"
"Your granddad died a few days ago"
Aaron just stood there not really sure what to say.
"Please can i see my mum"
Carl opened the door further and let Aaron into the house...

Aaron wasn't sure if he was excited or not to be seeing his mum again. As he walked through the front door he suddenly became very nervous, he wasn't really sure what he would say to her, he hadn't spoke to her in over five years. "Just go through" Carl said to Aaron as he pointed in the direction of the lounge. Carl was about to enter to but thought he would just leave them both alone so he headed into the office to see if Matt or Perdy were around. When Aaron walked into the lounge he seen his mum sat on the sofa feeding Bethany, he almost felt overwhelmed with jealousy, Chas looked up and seen who it was, she was shocked and didn't really know what to say. "Hi" Aaron said in a sheepish tone. "Wh...What are you doing here" Chas said to her son. "Em.......i seen Carl, earlier in the shopping center and thought i was about time i made an effort your my mum
"Is she yours" Aaron said. Chas just nodded, and at that moment Ellie ran into the room, she seen Aaron and immediately jumped up beside her mum and sister. "So how have you been?" Chas said to Aaron. "OK, starting collage next week" Aaron replied starting to ease off a bit. "mummy who's that" Ellie asked tugging on Chas' t-shirt. "I'm your big brother" Aaron said as he sat beside her. "Really???Is he yours and daddy's baby like me and Bethany" Ellie asked her mum. "He's not daddy's baby, but he is mine" Chas replied to her inquisitive daughter. "Where's he been then I've never seen him before" "He's been living with his daddy" Chas said. "Look Ellie why don't you go and find Daddy and tell him to get you something for lunch" Chas said to her daughter in a hope to be able to talk to Aaron. Ellie gave her little sister a kiss and ran out the lounge and into the office to find her dad. "Look, mum I'm sorry I've not been in touch" Aaron said hoping deep down he would be able to salvage his relationship with his mum. "Its OK, I've never been the best mum in the world" Chas replied. "Well it look like you are now, how old are they" Aaron asked he had loads of questions he wanted to ask his mum. "Well, this is Bethany she gonna be 3 months soon and Ellie's 6" Chas replied she couldn't believe how old he was, he was 19 and she had only had a baby a few months ago.....

"So do you and Carl still live here" Aaron asked beginning to relax a bit. "No, we live in Spain, have done for about 5 years now" Chas replied. Aaron didn't say anything, he was confused now, he wanted to get to know his mum and sisters but he couldn't if they lived in another country. "Aaron, are you alright?" Chas asked as he hadn't said anything for a few minutes. "Ye, ye so your pretty happy, married, kids, new job." He said. "Suppose, but it would be nice to get to know you more, your still my son" Carl shouted on Chas from the kitchen. "I'll be two minutes, are you OK with her?" Chas said as she handed Bethany to Aaron. He put his arms out and held his little sister. Chas walked out the lounge and into the kitchen. "Hey babe, hows things going?" Carl asked Chas as he pulled Chas down onto his knees. "Ye, think so he seemed a bit funny about Ellie and Beth but now he's OK now, but he seemed kinda weird when it old him we lived in Spain." He gave Chas a kiss on the cheek. Before she stood up. "Just talk to him" Carl said. Chas stood up and went back into the living room. "Look, Aaron why don't we go a walk, then we can talk properly" Chas asked hoping he would say yes. "Ye, why not" He replied as he handed Bethany to his mum. Chas went and gave Behtany to Carl and walked outside with Aaron.
They had been walking for about half an hour, when they decided to sit down at the edge of the stream. "So, once i've finshed this term at collage do you think i coudl come over and see you and Ellie and Beth.?" "Yes, that would be nice" Chas said as Aaron wrapped his arms around his mum, he was so glad he had came and seen her...
